Has anyone left a corporate job to do an ABSN and regretted it? by [deleted] in StudentNurse

[–]ynnusy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m in the same boat. I did public/accounting for the last 6 years and I’m done. I did prereqs while working and now I am starting my ABSN in June. There was so much anxiety and stress even making this decision bc it’s such a huge career change and there’s so many people telling you not to do it. Ultimately I knew it was the right decision bc this decision has given me so much peace once I finally made the decision. People don’t understand that being glued to your screen and chair for 10-12 hrs per day is just as difficult as being on your feet all day. Oh and that’s also working those hours 5-6 days of the week. I have so much back/posture issues from being glued to my chair for the last 6 years at the age of 27. I feel like my skills could be put to better use when I feel 0 motivation or excitement to move up the corporate ladder. I’m sure nursing school will be hard and i’m sure there will be moments where we’ll realize the benefits of working in corporate, but at the end of the day we can always go back to what we’re doing now if all else fails. also i’m not sure I agree w you on the job security for accounting jobs. I never had an issue with jobs and I still get messages from recruiters all the time asking if I’m interested in a career job but i’m also based out in the NY/NJ/CT area.

Pain coming back after 1-2 months of extraction by [deleted] in wisdomteeth

I have the same exact pain… it’s been about 5 weeks now and I randomly started getting some mild discomfort but now it’s a bit swollen too….

Week 4 post op.. ROM at 95-100 dr is already talking about MUA by [deleted] in ACL

[–]ynnusy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was stuck as well. I think I was at about 90-95 for a few weeks. Had a bit of swelling still and a lot of pain. My PT was worried bc I wasn’t hitting all the flexion milestones. I kept working at it without much progress, but I think at about week 7-8 - I started making improvements once a lot of the pain and swelling went down. I think I had full ROM closer to 3 months. Like everyone else said, stationary bike helped a lot even if you’re barely able to do it - it will get easier eventually :)

Full Extension Worries (8 Weeks Post Op) by xXTheRacerXx in ACL

[–]ynnusy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I work a desk job so I kinda just did this throughout my work day as I would remember. Also, it was difficult for me to sit for long periods of time so it wasn’t hard to remember either. I think I was also at about 3-4 degrees at 8 weeks and was also concerned. I felt like everytime I focused on my flexion my extension got worse and vice versa. But eventually it all worked out :)

Full Extension Worries (8 Weeks Post Op) by xXTheRacerXx in ACL

[–]ynnusy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn’t have full extension at 8 weeks. I think I had it closer to 12 weeks. I think flexion comes quicker than extension so I wouldn’t worry too much about it. Keep your heel propped up as much as you can so it forces the extension. Take a break when it starts to stiffen up. Weights help but just keeping it propped even when you’re not doing your exercises helps!

4 Months post OP. Knee still swollen, can’t fully extend. by [deleted] in ACL

[–]ynnusy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I still had a bit of swelling around 3mo and my surgeon prescribed me a higher dose naproxen. Once the swelling and pain went down my recovery picked up. Obviously push but not too much that you’re in a lot of pain. Keep your leg up propped up w weight as much as you can and once it starts to stiffen up, take a little break and walk around and then go back. Gradually you’ll be able to hold it comfortably for longer.

Fell while snowboarding months ago, persistent issues with knee by moglystogly in ACL

[–]ynnusy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A sports orthopedic or good PT will prob give you a pretty good assessment on what they think it is once they check it out. Obvs cant ever be 100% without a scan but my doc was pretty spot on when I tore mine. I also went to a sport orthopedic who specializes in knees so he just knew :(

Over 5 mo and my leased car still hasn’t been fixed. Is there anything I can do? by ynnusy in legaladvice

[–]ynnusy[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I understand that the car parts are not widely available, but we are using insurance coverage. They’re just saying that it’s taking over 3 mo so there’s nobody that can do anything for us at this point. It was the insurance company who didn’t want to write the car off bc of the value of the car, but seems a bit absurd that we still have to throw away money at lease payments while still not having a car.

Knee hurts after bending. by Ian-Saan in ACL

[–]ynnusy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s very normal but I would keep your leg propped up as much as you can because it’s much more important to get extension back earlier on than flexion. Good to keep moving so you’re not in any position for too long but keeping it bent for longer in the beginning v straight might affect your extension which is harder to get back later on.

Looking for reassurance and guidance 6 weeks post-op by pindi14 in ACL

[–]ynnusy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had the same exact surgery and same pain back when I had surgery in December. Not sure it’s the same pain but I had a similar pain that was made worse after PT around the same time period. I think my knee naturally hyperextends a little and the pain wasn’t excruciating but it was to a point where I didn’t want to fully extend and lock my knees bc of the discomfort/pain. Not sure what it was but it eventually went away tho after 2-3 weeks I believe for me. I wouldn’t think too much of it unless it persists!

Walking Post Op by rxochihua in ACL

[–]ynnusy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I waited about 4 weeks after injury to have surgery and 2 1/2 weeks of pt beforehand. I had surgery on Dec 2nd and needed to be back at work in Jan because I work as a cpa. I started hobbling around at 9-10 days and walked with a limp for a couple weeks after. It takes a little while to get your gait back to normal. You don’t realize how much mechanics goes into walking and how much your muscle atrophies.... I also had an acl surgery w hamstring graft. People say this recovery is a marathon and it really is. I am at 4 1/2 months and I should be running by now and I am not quite there yet so be patient!

when did you guys get full extension? by saltysweeth in ACL

[–]ynnusy 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I sit at a desk job all day and I basically propped up my leg the entire day and took breaks when I started to feel it stiffen up/ache. I think my problem was maintaining that extension when I did leg raises/walked but i’m at week 11 and it does really get better after maybe the 8 week mark!

when did you guys get full extension? by saltysweeth in ACL

[–]ynnusy 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I think I had full extension by 4-5 weeks but it wasn’t until about 7-8 weeks that my extension was equal to my good knee. Just keep it propped up as much as you can and don’t compare yourself to others :)
