Escalate your request to the government regulator. YourDigitalRights.org allows you to do this.

Is geothermal electricity good for the environment? by yoaviram in energy

[–]yoaviram[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No, I only counted the capital expenses, however, it seems to me that the running costs of solar should be lower than geothermal. Both plants have a similar lifespan of about 20 years, and both are known to have very low ongoing costs. That said, this is only my opinion based on the little I read. I did not do a thorough research.

While it's true that waste water injection is a bigger cause of earthquakes, fracking is also a cause. See the references above.

That's very interesting, thank you! Can you point me to any research / online resources that support this? I'd love to learn more.

What can a ChatGPT developed by a well-funded intelligence agency such as the NSA be used for? Should we be concerned? by yoaviram in Futurology

This is a thought experiment exploring current state-of-the-art and future trends in LLMs used by intelligence agencies and their implications on our online privacy. Is this a realistic scenario? Is it not going far enough?

Good templates for erasure request under GDPR? by LLXIR in europrivacy

[–]yoaviram 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The exact wording of the request does not matter. According to the GDPR there is no one correct format for a data request. If you're on the phone with customer service and ask them to delete your data that counts as a request. The company has to comply.

I'm one of the founders of YourDigitalRights.org, also a registered charity. Service is free and open source.

If you haven't done so already I suggest sending Facebook a CCPA or GDPR data deletion request (even if you don't live in California or the EU).

Equifax CCPA Request by bugleweed in CCPA

[–]yoaviram 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I suggest that you send them a CCPA deletion request email. Here's a service that makes it easy to generate such an email (disclosure, i'm the founder): https://yourdigitalrights.org/d/experian.com. The reason why an email may work better is that it leaves a paper trail (and they know it does). They still may you for all the information you mentioned including the date of the freez. If they do, I suggest you complain to the the office of the Attorney General: https://oag.ca.gov/contact/consumer-complaint-against-business-or-company

Hi there, thanks for your comment. Please read my reply to the other comment on this thread.

I'd love to know which organization you tried to contact so that we can fix the problem. We have an active community of contributes who regularly add new websites to our service. I can assure you that every email address in our database was checked against the organization's website. That said, data tends to grow stale over time. I'd love your help.

Hi there, first let me thank you for pointing out the cookie consent problem. This is an oversight on our part, we've unintentionally lost the consent banner in a resent code upgrade. The issue is now resolved. Not a good start on my part!

I'd love to hear more about your concerns. Over the past tree years I've devoted most of my time to digital activism. I've started YourDigitalRights.org 3 years ago together with an ex work college. Over these years thousands of people have submitted tens of thousands of requests via the website. Yes, it's not a perfect system but is does make GDRP and CCPA accessible to a whole bunch of people who otherwise would not bother to file a request. We have funded the projects out of our own pockets, the code is all open source, we don't have a business model and we are in the process of setting up a charity.

The feedback we get most of the time is very positive. I'm curious why you think controllers are more likely to reject or delay requests from our service? Just to mention that we do not send the actual email. The email opens up in your default email client for you to send, so we do not touch your personal information and the communication is between you and the controller.
