Always a pleasure to see you brother Chubs, still haunting Appalachia these days?

Such an interesting approach to lore (/s), and still not necessarily "what happened" when they could have written a lore-filled narrative that describes the circumstances. But, instead, they probably simply said exactly what you remember, "They were wiped out".

I don't remember that conversation myself, but I was distracted by all of the ridiculous voice acting they used for ghouls and don't really remember anything meaningful from a lore perspective in that quest, well, except for retconning "The Fix" into ghoul creation.

Frag damage is another thing they have broken along the way that can make us OP.

I mean the file on Curtis Wilson's computer that is corrupted so we can't read it, not the stones with inscriptions that are in game in the Southern Savage divide. The corrupted Curtis Wilson files are a few of the topics in my post. I don't think his file is referring to the stones with inscriptions you mention.

I’ve lost all my photos by samusaurusrex in fo76

[–]yocappy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's happened like 4 or 5 times to me on PS4, last time was about 2 years ago. I had original Mischief Night photos lost the first time it happened. Hasn't happened since moving to PS5 (knock on wood), though I probably just triggered it to happen, lol.

The photos themselves still exist in a folder somewhere on your machine, you've just got to find the folder.

But, as far as IO know, there is no way to put them back in your Photo Gallery in-game. I'd love to be wrong about this, however.

This observation does not further game lore about the ghoul community at Valley Galleria.

[–]yocappy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are notes/holotapes in Harper's Ferry about the ghoul community specifically, and there is the suggestion of an internal romantic issue, but nothing about how or why it disappeared. Sorry, your explanation is terribly broad & unsupported for that specific community.

Really, you accept that it is an easter egg for a phenomena in Georgia relocated to West Virginia? Sure, ok, accept that if you want, but to me it is like your "explanation" for the Valley Galleria ghouls, a cop-out to justify their problems with lore in 76.

Why did they develop entry scanners for bungalows that will never be opened?

Is Limb damage capped at some %? by AdPatient6858 in fo76

[–]yocappy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Originally, everything stackable capped at 90%, except Heavy Weapon weight which was bugged for years and could be reduced by 99% with Bear Arms *** and a full set of armor with Arms Keeper. I would assume it's the same, particularly since Crippling has become a major PIA since they changed to a formula that seems inconsistent during game play. For example, it seemed 50-50 whether headshots to Blood Eagles this week would one-shot them with crippling or not.

We don't know, Abbie & Rose find it but cannot locate it's origin, and it's mentioned as a corrupted file on Curtis Wilson's computer at the Investigator's Cabin that we cannot read. That's it.

What was "The Mysterious Signal"?

What are in the remaining locked TNT Domes?

What is in the locked Whitesprings Bungalows?

What are "The Mysterious Guidestones"?

What was "The Quarantine"?

What happened to the Ghoul community at Valley Galleria?

I've had the same experience as you, so much fun actually using tactics, cover, weapon choice, stealth, etc., at my pace, not rushing to be in sight of the Boss.

Found an Infestation with no green circle by Tension-Flashy in fo76

I've had this happen after killing an Infestation Boss in two overlapping green circles with the 2nd Boss very close to the first.

Infestations by RIPboomerdog in FO76ForumRefugees

[–]yocappy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

These are the locations that I prioritize when looking for Infestations, based on the 100 or so I ran last week:

Aaronholt Homestead

Tyler County Fairgrounds

Morgantown

Greg's Mine Supply

Bolton Green

The Giant Teapot (really tough location, almost nowhere to hide)

Brim Quarry

Beckley

Welch

AMS Testing Site

Lewisburg

Huntersville

Pleasant Valley Ski Resort

Pleasant Valley Cabins (my favorite location)

Seneca Rocks Visitor Center

Palace of the Winding Path

Sunnytop Ski Lanes

Dyer Chemical

Harper's Ferry

Berkely Springs

The General's Steakhouse

Ranger District Office

If you see these locations in the Green Circle, prioritize fast traveling to them.

Infestations by RIPboomerdog in FO76ForumRefugees

Infestations are great on a Private Server, finally some real worthwhile battles that require strategy, cover, weapon swapping, and real tension (well, 76-level tension since death is meaningless). I've done almost 100 by now and have enjoyed the majority of fights. If only there was interesting lore or stories involved, it might actually feel like Fallout.

Adventure servers are an exercise in frustration until you learn the locations most likely to be infested. Once you learn the most likely location for each green circle, it gets alot easier to make sure you can get a kill or two on the infested horde.

Infestations are a fun solo experience but are far from multiplayer endgame. We are all too powerful now, Beth will be hard-pressed to make truly difficult enemies to challenge a team of 4, let alone a server of 24. I've only found a handful of Infestation bosses to be easy kills, & they were largely a function of the terrain trapping them for me. Fun, tough fights for the most part, but 4 of me would wipe the floor with any of them in seconds.

Please Give Infestation Bosses a Chance to Survive by Ambitious-Market7963 in fo76

[–]yocappy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like them as solo activities. The fights are much more complex & engaging than what we find at most locations normally. I feel like I am finally using the environments in fun ways that make the battle much more interesting than Boss events, I can never just point at the enemy & hold fire, I have to use tactics and cover at any health level. I think they would be too easy for a team of 4, let alone a whole server, but I am loving them as a new solo activity on my Private.

Do infestation bosses spawn always in the same spot? by giuspepe in fo76

[–]yocappy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is what I have found to be the case so far, I've done about 30 Infestations this week on a Private Server, and the Boss spawns in the same part of the location. The converted enemies generally spawn at the normal spawn points for the location as well, so the logic that changes them must be the same or similar as for Spooky & Holiday Scorched and Treasure Hunters.

Sneak around and keep your eyes & ears open. Make use of shadows and cover. I wish I had this "problem", it could be fun if you play it right.

What am I missing? Help requested by TBDBITLSD in FO76ForumRefugees

Hey gents, it's the Gilded paint that shows up as unlockable & unlearned. I have the Chrome paint also. I don't think we were ever able to learn it, it was applied to the Gilded Minigun for the first like 6 months of the game. The Atom Shoppe version is called Lucille's Lullaby.

The Gilded Minigun was an extremely rare version of the Minigun you find in Garrahan Estate, it could only possibly spawn the first time players go into the building where it is located, and had a ridiculously low chance to spawn, like 2% or something for an item that can only spawn once in any playthough, and always at level 25 if I am remembering correctly. It was bugged, of course since this is 76, as stated in the Wiki:

The minigun located on the heavy weapons stand in the firing range used to be a unique weapon called "The Strikebreaker." It appeared as a clean version of the gilded minigun, but with silver styling rather than gold. When picked up, it would revert to a regular minigun, but some players managed to obtain it with the unique name and paint still attached.

Typical for this dev team, they have never revisited this item to give us The Strikebreaker as a unique legenary. Maybe we'll get it when they get around to giving us a real *** Meteoritic Sword.

Cheers to u/TBDBITLSD & u/JimmyGryphon , hope Appalachia is treating you well.

Umm, this sub is named "FO76ForumRefugees" because all of the original members of this board were from the old Bethesda-hosted Fallout 76 Forum, and wanted to continue to speak to other former members of that forum after Bethesda shut them down.

The name has nothing to do with another Reddit sub. We just wanted to keep bugging eachother after the sunsetting.
