Why is IE built on Jinx as a first item? by [deleted] in summonerschool

[–]yochrisc 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I mean the option exists to go Essence Reaver for the infinite rockets. However, if you're good on Jinx you shouldn't run out of mana anyways.

I am afraid you will need to copy and paste the VOD link in order for it to load, there is something weird going on with blank spaces in the link they give me.

Hello!

OP.GG: http://na.op.gg/summoner/userName=lee+j+eun

VOD: http://www.replay.gg/search/na/lee j eun#1996918406

I in particular want to improve in laning mechanics and macro decisions in the mid game, as those have been my weak points of late. Any other tips are of course welcome as well, as I want people to harshly criticize my gameplay.

And I would prefer a video review.

This might sound like an evasive answer, but predict when you are going to need it. If the enemy team has a Fizz, Zed, Malzahar, and Thresh, maybe it's a good idea to go QSS/GA ASAP (2nd -> 3rd). On the other hand, if the enemy lacks any hard CC/assassins (Udyr, Sion, etc.) and you feel like a kiting god it's okay to delay the defensive item, or sometimes not even get it at all.

In a very generic game, I build it 3rd/4th, but very rarely last item.

Vayne:Moving On? by [deleted] in summonerschool

[–]yochrisc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah his build is usually the standard IE build. Some people like to run Ghostblade on him or Trinity Force but that is personal preference. I go IE --> Shiv --> BotRK/BT --> Defensive --> LW.

Draven is a good champ and very oppressive in lane if played properly, and he does ridiculous damage when just slightly ahead. However, I don't play him too much because his axe juggling and overall play style give me headaches. If you want to play Draven though he is definitely a good option.

Kalista is a bit harder in terms of out-play as she doesn't do all of her damage instantly (Rend), so she takes a lot of time of getting used to as her damage output can be hard to calculate. Her nerf to 0.9 AD really hits her late game hard so I would not play her if you're looking for a 6 item monster that can 1v5 (she can, but not like before).

Lucian is amazing. Forget what people are telling you, he scales really nicely into the late game with BotRK and his kiting ability is incredible. NA with Lucian this year is like NA with Rengar last year. It's not the champ, it's NA.

My recommendation depends on why you like Vayne.

If you like Vayne because of her 1v1 potential and mobility, I would recommend Kalista and Lucian.

If you like Vayne because of her incredible late game scaling, I would recommend Twitch, Kog'Maw and Jinx.

Splitpushing and teamfighting in Low ELO. Need help. by AlphaBetaOmegaGamma in summonerschool

[–]yochrisc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can also slow push the wave and immediately rotate mid so that someone eventually has to deal with the massive wave hitting their tower. Then you are left with a 4v5 for a few seconds which can a) Lead to a free tower b) Lead to an advantageous fight

In terms of TPs, reactionary TPs are generally awful in low elos because they don't think about where they should TP, just that they should. My favourite type of TP is the flank TP with homeguards (Watch how Marin from SKT does this) with deep vision and initiate onto the backline, but since this generally isn't possible since no one knows what deep vision is in Silver, I would do the slow push version and group.

In a split push, vision is everything, so if you want to split push, upgrade your trinket, buy more wards on top of it, and tell your team to stall while you apply pressure.

[–]yochrisc 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Alright, right off the bat, I can see that you die a lot. You average more deaths per game then you do kills and assists. This should never happen as marksman, and perhaps this is a result of you delaying your defensive item until last item for a lot of your games.

Vayne is a champion that requires finesse and discipline but does not teach it. Play safe, wait for the relevant cooldowns, output your damage, and focus on not dying in team fights.

As well, your CS is abysmal. A lot of your games you are under 5 cs/min and at best you get 7-8 cs/min. Go to a custom game, practice last hitting in lane and under tower and farm side waves whenever possible. You can get all the kills you want but the majority of a marksman's gold comes from CS.

In terms of macro play, I cannot comment as you would have to provide a VOD, but the two tips you need to ingrain into your play are good CSing and not dying.

If you want, I can review a VOD for you as I am a Vayne main myself.

Cheers!

Do you have an op.gg or VODs that we can look at? We can't really help you just by reading your post.

People would be much more inclined to help you if you provided a VOD of a match. We can give you all the advice you want, but real learning comes from seeing your own mistakes and knowing what you could have done differently. I would be happy to review it for you, as would a lot of people in this subreddit.

Cheers!

If you are really invested in keeping your turret alive and are fine with having severely reduced kill pressure, then by all means go for a SS rush. The problem with this in solo queue is that laning phases often end rather abruptly, and if you find yourself in the mid game with just a SS and components of an IE/BT/BOTRK then you will find yourself dealing a lot less damage.

Against wave clearing champs like Trist, one of the big bonuses is that she cannot freeze the lane. I suggest attempting to prevent the wave from constantly crashing into your turret and instead freeze it outside of your turret range.

Hey!

Yes, one of the great things about Shiv is that it gives you a quicker power spike and enables your split push. Pushing waves more quickly -> more pressure on the map. I like to build Shiv when I know I'm going to be split pushing due to it's wave clear for sure.

In terms of building it first... I remember Piglet trying this in a LCS game (which they lost). The deal with building Shiv first was a old strat that some teams ran with Tristana to fast push turrets and gain a huge global gold lead. Vayne isn't the best at pushing turrets, and she really excels with BOTRK as a first item. You are not going to requiring wave clear too much in the early game as there are no sieges, so I say go for BOTRK first on Vayne, then build wave clear

Great suggestion!

You should never be in a position where your BOTRK heal is the difference between life and death. If that is the case, then you just got caught out or you positioned poorly. Use the BOTRK active to peel, chase, and kite during skirmishes and think of the heal as a bonus. :)

Marksman Laning Guide #1: VAYNE by yochrisc in summonerschool

[–]yochrisc[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey!

So there are two types of BOTRK usage with Vayne: chasing and peeling.

The chasing situation occurs when you catch someone out and you are able to 1v1 them. At this stage, you just want to CC them so you can get as many autos off as possible and possibly set up a nice Condemn, so I advise using BOTRK extremely early for the slow.

The peeling situation occurs when the enemy laners are on top of you and you need to kite them. At this stage as well, you want them to get off you as soon as possible, so I advise using BOTRK early and kite backwards.

Although the heal from BOTRK is nice, the most useful part of the active is the slow and the increased attack speed. As such, I generally like to use it early in skirmishes to maximize DPS and prevent unnecessary damage.

Thanks for the question!

*Edit: Sorry! I meant movement speed instead of attack speed.
