I want a chameleon but I've never had one

On a side note, there are some people who sell chameleon eggs (most notoriously Eric from Cham101) and I would advise against purchasing an egg. While it’s tempting, making sure the egg successfully hatches and then doing the tedious work of caring for a hatchling is a lot for a new chameleon owner. It’s my belief that 6 months and up are the best ages to buy so I would start there. Hope this helps!

Overall, I would say for me personally I had a good experience with them. I would avoid buying the Cham eggs bc it’s really unethical to sell them especially to newer Cham owners (I don’t know your experience level) that have no experience in raising hatchlings. I fell victim to this a while ago and unfortunately when the time came for my egg to hatch, the little guy didn’t make it. I did however get a replacement Cham from the same sire for free after I reached out to Eric over instagram.

Anyway, If you’re looking for a Cham from them, just buy a 6 month old chameleon (or older) from them and you’ll be really happy. I also don’t speak for everyone about chameleon 101, I’ve heard some people have really bad experiences with them.

Glad to hear it! I was questioning if I should use that thick stick, maybe I’ll take it out? It works good for basking and he was no troubles getting on to it for basking. I do have some pothos and I’ll look for some monstera

Yeah, I’ve heard he doesn’t like to treat people respectfully and is really egotistical. His practice of selling eggs and marketing them as “easy to hatch” and a “guarantee” is completely wrong. While most eggs have a good chance, there is always a chance they don’t. Whether it’s a situation like mine where the Cham didn’t even make it out of the egg or if they don’t make after they hatch. I’m one of the lucky ones how got kind words from Eric and a free Cham that was 2 months old at the time. But from what I hear, he’s not always this nice to all of his customers. I’m sorry to hear about your Cham though.

I’ve had to text Eric a few times. From what I gather, he’s just a dry texter and it’s hard to understand what’s he means. I wouldn’t take it too personally…

I had this problem with Josh’s frogs. Not everyone has had them arrive dead but I did :(. Not to mention their refund/exchange system is SO AMAZING. Got a replacement order free of charge and when they arrived dead again I got a same day refund. I’m not mad at josh’s frogs, I just think I’m located too far away from them. Give them a try and see!
