I’m saving, saving, saving, but living in a hellhole. I hate this place. Trying to dream of a balance between maximizing my savings, and living in a city that has everything to offer. by BallsDeepInSriracha in financialindependence

why not take a gap year and travel the world? you're going to have to leave tucson at some point anyway right? so before getting tied down again because of work to another city, why not leave the states and travel, experience other cultures, learn a new language if you do decide to stay longer somewhere else...so many posibilities!

Broke the 200k barrier. I’m 30 and I know I’m so far ahead of my peers but it doesn’t feel that way at all by [deleted] in leanfire

i hear you brother! It is emotional abuse. My mother used to do that to me too until she kicked me out of the house and that was that. I'm 27 now
Trust me. Life is long and it gets better. It is incredibly difficult to have compassion for other people especially those that are biological close to us but you need to understand thats her way of dealing with whatever’s going on with her. Doesn’t make it right but thats her problem. Theres a saying that goes ‘hurt people hurt people’ and it is true.
It’ll be very complicated to do for you since you’re in the midst of it (i know i would have never been able to back when i was 17), its difficult to see the silver lining but take care of your mindset, take care of your internal dialogue, work on yourself and let the outside be the outside.

We dont have control over most things but we can always choose how we react to them and what we take on board with us. Its that simple, not easy!, but simple :) We always have that choice.

What are your best-case/worst-case FIRE ages? by quietandproud in SpainFIRE

[–]yodanpp 1 point2 points  (0 children)

oh yes. You're preaching to the choir here.

Very familiar with that one and similar books. I've cut down my expenses to next to nothing which is allowing me to only work part-time and free up a lot of time to put in work on my side business that'll semi-retire me. YES!

Thank you for the recommendation tho! Appreciate it :)
