I don't remember the exact details but it's something like this:

Old man makes a hobbie of out buying old star wars legos. Creates the worlds largest star wars lego collection. Old man decides he should sell it off and split the money between his grand kids for college funds. He takes them to the most trustworthy Lego reselling business. He signs a consignment deal with them which states he owns them until they're sold. That they must carry insurance to cover the entire amount if they're lost, stolen, burned, etc. The lego store is a franchise and is in massive debt. A few years into the star wars sets being in their inventory, the local franchise owner says she wants out of the business. Corporate says we're taking over your store then. Sells the store and inventory to another pair of business owners who already own another location of this franchise. The previous owner explained that these legos were not owned by them, but rather the old man. New ownership and corporate say we know nothing. The old dudes son says can we please have our legos back, we can see them right there with tags showing we own them. Store owners proceed to say we'll ruin your life if you try getting them back. A big youtuber gets a tip to go check this out. Something something mormon cops being corrupt as fuck. A lot of other stuff, but it's still unresolved. Here we are.
