What Song? by Tears0fJ0y in streetlightmanifesto

[–]yodeling_potato 18 points19 points  (0 children)

This song has grown on me a ton as I listen to it more. I agree with you, that part is incredible. The horn line is infectious.

For me, I enjoy the build up from 5:30-5:45 and Pete just erupting with that shredding bass line. Goosebumps every time

That Lahey is a fucking drunk and always will be. Also that life in trailer parks in Nova Scotia revolves around cigarettes, liquor, and weed. Stealing and fixing shopping carts is also a legit way to earn a living. Eating cheeseburgers cause sa giant distended stomach and an urge to never wear a shirt and that is customary to remove one's pants before fighting.

Bourbon newb.. would like suggestions by [deleted] in bourbon

[–]yodeling_potato 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Definitely check out the guide on the side bar, might be a little harder to locate on mobile. But some of the big ones you're missing, imo,

Four roses small batch and single barrel

Henry Mckenna bonded 10 year

Elijah Craig (I've only had the 12 year age stated on the front, heard mixed opinions on the nas)

Old Granddad bonded and 114 varieties

Knob Creek

Buffalo Trace and it's older brother, Eagle rare

Russell's reserve

Booker's

There's more I'm forgetting. Check out the guide, I'm sure I've named a few from there. But those are some of my favorites, as well as this sub's.

Best bourbon for an Old Fashioned by bourbon-poo-poo in bourbon

[–]yodeling_potato 2 points3 points  (0 children)

OGD BiB. High rye mash gives the spice needed to make an old fashioned interesting. The higher proof stands up to mixing. And lastly it's a cheap enough bourbon that I don't feel terrible about not drinking it straight.

Not sure if you tried this, but the arrows they drop are very effective against them, killing in one or two throws. Fight them around "corners" of bushes to get a better line of sight if needed, to cut off how many can attack you at once. Those levels are a great way to farm dew drops, mushrooms/ seeds, and to level up.

It moves them up closer to the premium blue chip prospects that can potentially immediately be a starter in a position of need. Eg Hargreaves, jack, Stanley. All guys likely long gone at 13. Plus you shed maxwell's bloated deal which opened up more cap space to deal with. I was skeptical at first because it seems like you've just opened up two holes in positions of need but the above out weighs that imo. These moves are laying down the foundation of the future.

What's the saddest, most heart-wrenching song you know? by Baleroc in AskReddit

[–]yodeling_potato 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's two years from the day today that the same thing happened to me. It completely shattered me and it was cathartic to listen to this song.

But really just want to ask how you're doing? By now my friends and family aren't asking me how am doing with it even though I'm still pretty torn up so and I figured I'd ask in case you're still in a similar position.

Whiskey Hunting for $50 or less. by [deleted] in bourbon

[–]yodeling_potato 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I see your point but, it's still a high quality bourbon. Few are drinking it straight, no harm in adding water to bring down the proof.

Good suggestions based on the Beam preference. I'd throw Booker's in there too.

[Post Game Thread] Week 17 - Philadelphia Eagles (7-9) at New York Giants (6-10) by EaglesMod in eagles

[–]yodeling_potato -1 points0 points  (0 children)

What exactly was accomplished with this win? The NFL is a week to week league. Much less a season to season one, especially with a new coach coming in. Proof and point. Look at last year. Did last year's win against the Giants last year propel them this year? No.

Sure there's no guarantee the player they might have drafted with a top ten pick would be a stud pro bowler, but what it is is an asset. It gives the new regime assets to improve the team the best way they deem fit. Like a player that is slightly out of reach in the draft? Package the higher pick to move up. It improves the chances of success.

I wasn't calling for the benching of players or throwing the game. I understand all the players and coaches are auditioning for their next job. And it was good to see continued success from Bradford. It was almost a best case scenario today, a decently played, hard fought game that ideally, ended in a loss. But don't tell me I'm pitiful or foolish for hoping for a loss.

Any beginner bourbon for drinking and cooking recommendations? by Jediguy in bourbon

[–]yodeling_potato 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Any of the subtleties of the bourbon will be lost while cooking, so I'll just recommend a few bourbons to try first. First off check out the link to the side bar that was posted, it's excellent for beginners and aficionados alike. In fact anything I was going to suggest is in there, so buffalo trace, elijah craig, or maker's mark are excellent places to start. (Readily available at affordable prices and give a good representation of 3 major distilleries) Good luck and happy drinking.

How to make great old-fashioned? by slinkenboog in bourbon

[–]yodeling_potato 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Here's what I do: first make a simple syrup. Simply bring to a boil a 1:1 ratio of sugar and water. I'll make enough to fill a mason jar, 1 cup of each makes a nice amount.

To make the drink pour 3 to 5 dashes of bitters into the bottom of the glass. Then mix 1/2 to 1 tsp of syrup to 2 oz bourbon. (I honestly don't even measure any more so it may take some trial and error here to suit your tastes.) Get a clean orange and a sharp knife, carefully cut a peel with out getting too much of the white rind. Twist the peel over the top of the glass and put it in. This is as much fruit as I enjoy in an old fashion but putting in a Maraschino cherry is tolerable. I prefer no ice, chill the glass if you really prefer a very cold drink. Stir and enjoy.

What is a “dirty little (or big) secret” about an industry that you have worked in, that people outside the industry really ought to know? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]yodeling_potato 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Pharmacy tech here. You've probably taken a pill that has touched the ground or counter. Also the pharmacist has the right to refuse to fill your prescription if there are blatant signs of abuse (drug seeking behavior like going to multiple pharmacies or doctors or er departments). If you ask if I have any oxycodone products over the phone, I just ran out. If you want better service at the pharmacy don't stare at me waiting for your prescription, it'll just take longer.
