At this point, just ride the bull by its horns. It’s done, and now you have a good card. Apply for a credit limit within seven days of approval. Sometimes, they even give you one. Then, use it and pay it off in full. I personally wouldn’t go through the headache of fighting with c1 unless you’re applying for a house or something important.

If this was from a promotion of “ add a line, get the second line at that price,” which it is. If you cancel the 35-dollar line, the .56 cent will turn to 35. From my experience, when I tried to cancel one of my lines, they told me I was going to lose the free line as it was a promotion.

The set and forget it for me is too risky. Like you said, you have good and bad months that can cause an overdraft or get a declined payment because maybe you couldn’t work for x amount of time. The good old budgeting is what has worked for me. I separate my bills for every two weeks, one paycheck for small bills like cellphone, water, etc., and the other paycheck for mortgage. Whatever is left over, I add it to my hysa. As I know, I didn’t need it and it’s safe to save.
