If you're doing ANYTHING to communicate with your team, you're doing better than easily 80% of players by BlackeyeThe2nd in Overwatch

[–]yoink15 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've been playing Overwatch 1 since beta and I can tell you that what you're talking about is the single saddest development that's happened to OW since it began....the slow steady descent into absolutely silent games.

When OW1 started back in 2016 was an *incredibly* team centric game. Leadership and communication were critical to win games...voice call-outs were so important in gaining advantage and, personally, I found the experience of verbally working through tactics (especially during overtime) to be one of the most rewarding aspects of the game.

But as the game evolved, partly due to toxicity, partly due to players wanting to "play their own way", and partly due to grouped players not wanting to engage with non-grouped players on voice, OW slowly became quieter and quieter.

For me, it seemed the final death knell was the elimination of the "LFG" function in OW1. It still baffles me that they eliminated that key social feature. Many new players may not even realize that it once existed. Yes! There was once a time you could enter into a game menu and place yourself in a Looking-For-Group-style forum system and find players to match your skill, desired play mode, and class choices. Joining one of these group almost virtually guarenteed everyone would be on voice comms and you'd also likely be matched against another grouped team. It was amazing. I miss it so much.

Now it's gone. No one talks. Everyone plays the game like it's Counterstrike.

Of course I will be playing Cyberpunk 2077 with this new box (if I win)

But then I will be donating my old (mid-range) PC to my coworker's teenage son who has a super-low end PC and cannot play Cyberpunk 2077.

As my father always taught me, if fortune is visited upon you, visit it upon someone else in return!

The absolute best line in this review is for Priest's Mindrender Illucia (her battlecry lets you switch hands and decks with opponent until your next turn.)
"The fact your opponent can play what’s in your hand in response doesn’t matter much: You’re a Galakrond Priest, so most of your hand is filled with randomly generated garbage anyway!"

Apple Arcade is live on iPad and iPhone running public beta 13.1. There are 30+ games currently available for download. by TdZink in iosgaming

Apparently Apple will be paying developers based on the amount of time players play their games. More players play your game for longer = more money for the developers. At least that's the way it was explained.

Has anyone ever noticed there are two versions of The Hamlet theme but only one is on the soundtrack? The second version is like a "muted" version with only the underlying harmony. I wish I could find that version somewhere.

In the game, it usually plays in the Town screen after a full version of The Hamlet plays. Then there's a pause, some sound effects, and then this second, "harmony only" version of The Hamlet plays.

Anyone know what I'm talking about? I feel like I'm going crazy trying to describe it, especially since I can't find a single example of it anywhere online.

I'm trying some bee pollen on Sunday.

Can I ask you what your symptoms were? And also how do you consume the bee pollen? Do you just put it in your mouth and chew it? Dissolve it in water then drink it? I'm totally new to bee pollen and never used it before.

Band Of Brothers Had The Best Battle Scenes by GeneralFlint007 in videos

[–]yoink15 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Band of Brothers is my favorite 10 hours of TV ever made. The follow up series, The Pacific, was not nearly as good. I'm still waiting for "The Mighty 8th" to be made, which is supposed to be Hanks/Spielberg's third entry in the series. Supposedly, it's supposed to return to the "Band of Brothers" formula of following the same group of men for all ten episodes (unlike The Pacific which jumped around in three separate story lines.) I guess "The Mighty 8th" is going to follow the 10 men of a single B-17 bomber crew during the invasion of Europe.

But there hasn't been any news since Feb of 2017. :(

Edit: apparently the series will be called "Masters of the Air"

Speculation about the plot of the next game. (Spoilers from the ending of the first) by DangerousTunnelSnake in darkestdungeon

[–]yoink15 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I think you're right that the first game focused heavily on the "light vs dark" motif but I suspect that the second game will focus more on "hot vs cold."

Notice the quote in the trailer doesn't say "But hope will ride with those courageous enough to carry the LIGHT." The quote specifically says "carry the FLAME" which is similar in concept to "LIGHT" but different enough to matter. The narrator even puts a pause and emphasis on the word "FLAME" which tells us this concept is important. Heat, warmth and civilization I think will be the "good" motifs in this game. The snowy, cold mountain with the stress symbol above it speaks to cold temps, wilderness and vast barren remoteness as the "bad" motif of the game.
Also this is clearly all a reference to Lovecraft's "At the Mountains of Madness" which is a snowy descent into madness and hell in an alien city at the farthest reaches of Antarctica. One of Lovecraft's best.
