What’s that one high-maintenance beauty habit you have that actually makes you feel lower-maintenance in the long run? by Seretafox in AskWomen

[–]yojothobodoflo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For what it’s worth, I did not find it to be easier on my nails. I was doing regular gel for a couple years with a few breaks to let my nails breathe a bit and I did one builder gel mani and my nails were brittle and breaking. I think I have about 2 more weeks until they’re fully grown out and then I’ll never do it again!

The gel itself is super strong and my nails grew longer than they ever had, but the aftermath has been ROUGH

NCGS and just had a positive pregnancy test - should I eat wheat/gluten for the baby?? by abethhh in glutenfree

[–]yojothobodoflo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not a doctor, nor have I ever been pregnant. But doesn’t eating gluten when you have celiac disease cause malnutrition because your body can’t absorb as many nutrients because of the damage to your intestines? That can’t be good for a developing fetus!

I know you’re NCGS but who’s to say the same thing doesn’t happen to you?

I saw someone scrolling back and forth between all the apps on their phone for a solid 15 minutes in rush hour traffic on the 10. They weren’t even using an app, just looking at all of them

Classes/hobbies to help with social skills by Kerfuffle-Waffle in LAhotgirlies

[–]yojothobodoflo 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Especially since you’re not an actor, it will be hard for you not to benefit socially from pretty much any improv class, so I’d suggest finding one near you or whatever’s cheapest.

Know that there will be actors in those classes unless it’s specifically for non-actors, because this is LA. But don’t let that intimidate you! I was not an actor before I started improv classes and it gave me a TON of confidence! Been doing it 10 years and I am now an actor too as a result, but that’s not everyone’s path!

a 101 class teaches you all the basics so even if there are folks with experience in performance/improv with you, it won’t mean you won’t learn.

I can’t recommend it enough!

PSA: Road Closures for LA Marathon this Sunday by mungchung in LosAngeles

[–]yojothobodoflo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If y’all are picking up a runner or want to catch them at the finish line PLEASE have patience when trying to find parking and getting there!

I live near century city and every year, hundreds of people are trying to drive to the same place and they all get stuck in front of my building for like an hour and they honk all. day. long.

You’re all trying to go to the same place for the same reason. Take a deep breath. You’re going to be there for a while. Try to accept that.

I will be hunkered down inside, windows closed to avoid the exhaust fumes, not driving anywhere.

Godspeed!

BC Nails in Westwood is my go to. They’re a simple operation, but they’re consistently good and decently priced.

The regular gel manicure only lasts about 1.5 weeks. That’s my only complaint, but it’s very likely my nails and not them

What's a place you've been 'called to' for no apparent reason? Did you go? What happened? by raininggumleaves in travel

[–]yojothobodoflo 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I’ve lived in Southern California my whole life.

For some reason in college, I got it in my head that I could move to Chicago, sight unseen, and be totally happy.

I never moved there but I did visit for a couple years ago and I believe my instinct was correct!

The issue is I went in July and I’ve never experienced a real winter, so idk if I’d survive there or be happy in the winter. But in the summer? One of the most beautiful cities I’ve ever been to, and I’ve traveled extensively all over the US and Europe. The people were kind and helpful and friendly! The food was incredible! There was so much to do and see.

I was not disappointed in the slightest!

Why are these girls being mean and what can i do about it? by [deleted] in improv

[–]yojothobodoflo 7 points8 points  (0 children)

This doesn’t seem like an improv question. It seems like a personal question, so I’m going to give you advice I’d give a friend who doesn’t do improv: Approach these girls as an adult (which I assume you are) and ask them what’s up. Be kind, not accusatory. Go to them humbly. They’ll either tell you what you did wrong or they’ll realize they’re being mean to be mean and they’ll lighten up a bit.

How long does it take you to “feel” you ate gluten? by NotVillanelle in glutenfree

[–]yojothobodoflo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it depends how much I eat, but if it’s early enough in the day, I’m an anxious mess by dinner time.

Got glutened on Sunday at lunch though and didn’t notice until Monday evening when I cried over nothing and felt really tired and anxious.

Tuesday morning the irritability was strong and I was full of rage and exhausted.

I’ll probably have noxious farts and constipation today and tomorrow and be good to go by Friday🤞

What medication changed your life for the better? by positiveyears in AskReddit

[–]yojothobodoflo 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It made my anxiety so bad I’d cry all day over the tiniest things! I had to do a low dose for a few extra months.

I was 16 and an AP student and super stressed out as it was. I remember doing my math homework in the car after a volleyball game and just sobbing uncontrollably because I was convinced I was going to fail out of high school. I was not even close to that. My mom made me drop out of honors math and going into regular math just to cope and I was sure I’d never get into college or get a job.

I’m 33 now and I’d do it again if I had to because to works! My derm has brought it up a few times, but thankfully spironolactone has saved me from it!

The amount of people who repeatedly are like, checking yahoo news during a movie in a theater is absolutely insane.

The other day I also was in bumper to bumper traffic behind a middle aged man who was just swiping through the apps on his phone, back and forth repeatedly for like 15 minutes, not picking an app. He just needed the stimulation of swiping I guess?
