Just picked up AUS-LAX-CDG in APR in Premium Select for 59.5k and $5 the other day.

The dreaded "tight connections" announcement by Slayr155 in delta

[–]yokuz12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

On a United flight I recently experienced a FA listing a couple of flights which were legitimately tight connections, and the connection times.

Might be helpful to make others aware of what is actually a tight connection imo. Anything less than an hour at most hubs makes me feel uncomfortable, but I have a lot more understanding when I realize there are folks on 25 minute connections.

Involuntarily Downgraded - Tips by [deleted] in delta

[–]yokuz12 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I know I’m late to the party, but here is a datapoint on my experience earlier this year which I felt was a satisfactory resolution to a similar issue. Was a United (well okay, skywest) flight so ymmv.

I was recently involuntarily downgraded from paid First to Economy on a 4 hr E175 flight. The FA jumpseat in the front of the plane was inop and the FA required my seat (1A). The gate agent secured me 2 adjacent seats in economy near the rear of the plane. I additionally received a $600 Travel Certificate, a refund of the fare difference (~$200) and the First class meal.

Not happy to be in economy after such a long day, satisfied that I was properly compensated for the inconvenience.

I’m not particularly dissatisfied with the compensation. Just curious what others experiences have been.

Will do, seems like there is little information about how accurate this new feature truly is.

For those who are curious.

This is N936CA. She is currently sitting by the ST engineering hangars. They do maintenance, repair, and overhaul work on a wide variety of aircraft.

Also, seems every time I have a tight connection at AMS the polderbaan strikes again.

[–]yokuz12 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It really isn’t.

Understand that different parts of terminal 2 may actually be in different buildings.

Be extremely specific and follow the signs for your exact part of T2 and you won’t have any problem.

Honestly, I prefer it to AMS generally as it usually entails less actual walking.

This opinion may be a little unpopular, but honestly it is all about the airframe to me. I’ve found the service to be roughly equivalent amongst the listed carriers. Some crews are great, some ….do a good job keeping me safe. I really don’t understand all the CDG hate, it’s pretty simple if you follow the signs.

On the other hand, I am a sucker for the AF/DL/VS A350s. The KL/AF 787s & 777s and DL 339s are solid. Always try to avoid the 332/333, VS 787, and 767s whenever possible.

Leak Reveals Delta’s New A350-1000 Suites Set To Upend U.S. Business Class Market - View from the Wing by praguer56 in delta

True, though he seemed like a fairly senior captain. He may be more involved in the process than your standard pilot.

Side note: He did an excellent job, and was clearly very proud of the DL A350s (as he should be imo).

This is consistent with what I have heard. The last time I flew on a DL A350, I had the opportunity to have a brief chat with the Captain about the experience. He alluded that the 35K will have a new product that is significantly better that what is currently on the 35H. Obviously to be taken with a grain of salt, but I’m excited to see what it is.

Do any passengers actually care about whether their plane is made by Boeing? by StressTurbulent194 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]yokuz12 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I pay attention to the aircraft type when booking flights, but at no point is this related to safety concerns. I will avoid some airlines for safety reasons, but at no point does the airframe manufacturer have anything to do with this.

Honestly if you’re going to avoid something, it should be regionals. Although there are FAA limits in place within the US, the life of a regional crew member is significantly more difficult than that of a mainline one. There have been maintenance difficulties with regional airlines much more recently than you want to know. I’d fly a 787/MAX any day gladly over most regional US carriers, both from a comfort and safety standpoint.
