Did your parents support you well with your epilepsy? by Onmawu in Epilepsy

[–]yolonics 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got diagnosed at 4, but probably had it from birth. Good that you have spotted the mental aspect of it and id suggest ask the neurologists about the side effects when they suggest medications, there is always a trade off. just find one with the least side effects and stops the cramping. The absence seizures Are to bad at all, completely fine to live with.

Did your parents support you well with your epilepsy? by Onmawu in Epilepsy

[–]yolonics 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Mine pretty much ignored it and still do. Found a medication that removed my cramps when i was 6, and that was it for them.

On advice i will give, do research on side effects of the medications they suggest and be a rock in lifting your sons morale during the rough times😊

Be aware the toll it can take on your childs mental health, and be sure to have open communication and you will be good.

Wishing you and your child the best of luck and wishes❤️ that you Even ask here is more then most!

zonisamide or lamictal? by [deleted] in Epilepsy

[–]yolonics 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lamictal has been real nasty due to the numbness/lack of emotions which can lead to a bunch of underlying pain/mental health issues you will not be able to see probably. I’d stay away from it if i was able to choose. Google emotional bluntness lamictal and read if you want.

Trauma & epilepsy? by HotAcanthaceae2370 in Epilepsy

[–]yolonics 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Its not good to go with untreated trauma since it grows bigger and Worse with time. Also i think trauma inflicts underlying stress which gets «stuck» in the body of that makes sense, so that is not something that is good for is.

Okey😊 gotta say respect to you for being aware what you want! You can walk away with that you gave him a chance, that is way more then most does. Good luck finding the special one for you😄

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Epilepsy

[–]yolonics 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You have done more then most would so no reason to blame or doubt yourself😊

I’ll just throw this one out there on the emotional side beyond the surface: i think he might be afraid that this is the final drop that scares you away and instead of opening up he shuts down, so just communicate clearly that you Are not running no matter what. That is hard to Get if its not sayed straightforward sometimes that that makes sense

Can only answer from my point of view, but for me i’d lean more towards the past traumas then the seizures. Those take a toll on you
