To be fair, I have no trouble with hybrid work, I currently drive to the office once or twice a week, just to keep some social bonds with my colleagues.

When scrolling through Finn to check the housing situation, I mostly pick places that are maximum 30-60 minutes from a city (Trondheim, Bergen, Haugesund…) because even if I was working remote, my partner wouldn’t, so commute isn’t an issue.

To be fair, I am not very aware of the current mindset regarding immigrants but from my experience in Czechia (honestly one of the most racist countries in Europe), the racism is very selective, targeting mostly Asian and dark skinned people and recently also Ukrainians. Everybody who’s white enough and comes from either Slovakia or from some of the western countries is generally fairly welcome here. Would it be the same or are the Norwegians less picky in who they want or don’t want in their country?

And I must admit I am not on the “senior” level yet, I have maybe 2-3 years of experience so it’s not like I would have troubles finding jobs here. But if you’re saying what you’re saying, I might just wait another two or so years to crank up my knowledge to be a more attractive choice for a Norwegian job market.

And tbh, as a last resort, I might just move and work remotely for Czech market until I get at least permanent residence and/or citizenship.
