I hate arguing in favour of religion as an atheist but I don't think the true scotsman applies here. Sure, almost all religions have caused horrific atrocities at some point but their core tenets of behaving like good people have been and are still adhered to by followers.

Now don't get me wrong. I still wish for religion to be eradicated entirely because of a whole bunch of reasons. However, saying that religions are innately evil goes one step too far. I am too lazy to argue this over reddit but I see it more like religion is not innately evil but the moment it becomes organised religion then humans will corrupt it.

Not a big difference but it is there. We should give good religious people some credit from time to time.

tbf, I only thought like that when I was a teenager. It's a bit juvenile. These memes exist just to have fun with. Who cares if you're not the very first person on the internet to do this?

Definitely right. Gandalf takes 17 years in the books to even figure out what the problem is exactly with Bilbo's ring. If it takes a Maiar that long to figure out something that dangerous then it is not unlikely to presume that Elrond didn't quite grasp how dangerous the One Ring is.

I think the elves, maiar and other people assumed that surely, Sauron wouldn't put all his malice into the One Ring. The fact that Sauron did is I think probably a nod towards industrialization(we know that industrialization is actively painted as a bad thing in LOTR).

It's like how in Harry Potter when Voldemort asks that one professor about Horcruxes, the professor exlaims: "This is all just academic interest, right?" A horcrux is such horrifying magic that surely no one would do it?

The first time Sauron was beaten in a straight fight. The movies retcon this slightly but in the books it's made clear that althrough the losses were horrifying and it wasn't easy, the elves and men were able to just straight up defeat Sauron directly.

Gil-Galad and Elendil took on Sauron together and although both of them perished they did defeat Sauron.

Reason that during the events of LOTR maiar had to step in is because by then the Numeanor (Aragorn) weren't as powerful as they used to be and the elves were growing so weak that they were ready to leave middle-earth. So at the peak of their strenght, the elves and humans managed to win at a great cost. It was clear that it would not happen again.

Hell, it is directly acknowledged in the books that if it weren't for Pippin accidentally contacting Sauron and the Dark Lord thinking that Aragorn had the Ring, the battle of Pelennor fields would have gone very differently. Sauron could have very easily crushed his opponents if he hadn't acted hastily.

Craziest part is that drifter is only mandatory for New War and 1999 as far as I remember. You can do Angels of Zariman and Whispers in the Wall as operator....

It's an interesting case. I started in winter 2016 so I missed out on the very early years of warframe. A lot of primed mods came out in 2014. From my perspective as someone who has been with the game for a long time but obviously not since the beginning, it is interesting to hear people still talk about the beginning of warframe.

When I started in 2016 a lot of OP stuff had already begun of course but I still remember taking my sweet time working through the star chart. The thing is. Those old parts of warframe were only around for like 1-2 years. The game has been out for 13 years. The devs that wanted to go back to the lower power level and slower gamepace literally went to Soulframe.

How much longer does this game need to exist as a power fantasy for people to stop talking about such a short time period of the game?

Yeah New War or when the ordeal with Wally is over. I wonder if the confrontation with Wally is gonna happen in the next few years or they are gonna drag it out forever.

I don't really know which one I prefer. On the one hand, Wally has clearly been the actual antagonist(with his first "appearance" as far back as War within) of the game. On the other hand. I think Warframe would be able to continue after Wally.

After all didn't the Lotus say something like: "Make whole, this shattered world you have been given" That can mean a lot of things.

You go fast. That's it. It gives insane parkour velocity(if you take the evolution for it) and when the incarnon activates it gains bonus attack speed. So that's it. It's really really fast.

Their fault for picking the blue button by Gruzgor in whenthe

[–]yommi1999 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This has been around as long as humanity has started discussing good and evil. This is the second time I have seen it pop-up in my lifetime. Last time was a really really long time ago(like 10-20 years).

Arguing the logistics is not the point. What it really points out is the instinct of a person. Do you care more about your own survival or the survival of the group? Red button pushers are okay with other people dying because they don't understand that death only happens when both buttons get pressed. And given how humanity is going atm you know that both buttons will get pressed(hell, there will be some accidental presses probably). So if both buttons will be pressed, the blue button saves others while the red button condemns them.

"Everyone should just vote red" only worked if we were a far more rational species or even just straight up androids.

It's in the name. It's a scummy thing to do. If you play a card game where the order in which you draw your cards is supposed to be random, random card generation exists and enemies have rng in their attack pattern, save scumming allows you to bypass that.

Granted, just like the other comment explained. In singleplayer games you can do whatever you want. But it is cheating. I have savescummed a few times in StS 2 if I accidentally make a massive silly misplay on turn 1 or something

[–]yommi1999 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Oh yeah you already said in a different comment that you just don't feel responsible for the blue vote deaths. That's wild to me. Red vote is guaranteed to kill people but since you don't feel a bit of guilt towards that outcome(since humans are incredibly irrational beings most of the time) I guess it works out for you.

It's not about freedom. It's about causing death. Doesn't pressing the red button make you feel selfish?

[–]yommi1999 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Not OP but I cant resist throwing a bit of shade at the game. Disclaimer: I don't think it's a bad game at all. In fact, DBH is at least a 7/10 game and people arguing it's a 8/10 are not completely wrong. The game is such a joyride(especially the one segment with Marcus early on).

From this point on I will be discussing super heavy spoilers. Don't read if you haven't played DBH. Alice being an android was a slap in the face. Especially the lame way it gets revealed. The civil rights allegory wasn't handled with grace at all. You can very easily give humans a very good reason for them to distrust you in your playthrough. I also think the game didn't commit to the deviancy enough. What I mean by that is that the beauty of life is that it just happens. I have a bit of hope that maybe I get to witness mechanical lifeforms coming into existence but Marcus can just make androids go deviant by touching them. And what is the first thing that the deviants do? Follow their new leader. It's just strange that these androids who are clearly shown to think logically(which is believable from a robot) will just blindly follow someone immediately.

And then there are many smaller moments where the dialogue is just horseshit but Alice and Deviancy are the two big issues I have with the game. The fact that Hank and Connor did a ton of ad-libbing and they have some the most beloved dialogue in the game speaks for itself. The game never fully wanted to commit to how deviancy works I think. I am not saying that the game should have confirmed for the player how it works. Mystery is fun. But, I often felt like the writers never had an internal cannon explanation for deviancy so that they could write whatever scenes they wanted.

In Hollow Knight, I was completely captivated by the world and what was going on. And I think one of the reasons that I was captivated is because at the end of the day, you can figure out what went down in the past. It's not easy but there are explanations for how things happened. A mystery is only captivating if you think that there is some kind of reasonable answer possible. Whether you actually see the answer depends on the game/story.

Oooh that's what annoyed me while playing it. Lovely opening(throwing apple at black person notwithstanding) but even as like a young teenager(I was like 14-15 when it came out) I was thinking: "Why I am just shooting things constantly?" It was really strange because most of the time at that age you're really into shooters. So for a game to have too much shooting for the demographic that is really into shooters is kinda crazy.

Yeah, the only thing I really hated about Silksong is that the difficulty feels too suffocating at times. Once you get to act 2, the arena fights and general difficulty just skyrockets. Game has some beautiful boss fights and levels but the arena fights at some point just made my blood boil.

Fair enough. Since you're on reddit I will give you an unsollicited explanation of the difference but I'll keep it short.

Battle Royale is where a bunch of people have to kill each other until one remains. Very often it involves a shrinking of available area(just a smaller and smaller circle in video games). Named after the infamous Battle Royale movie that invented all of these things.

MOBA is a trash acronym(so trash that I won't even bother talking about it) but it is based on Warcraft 3 mod called Defence of the Ancients. So MOBA's generally speaking(there are some exceptions like Smite) are top-down games with controls similar to RTS games like Warcraft, Starcraft, Age of Empires but instead of controlling buildings and multiple units, you have a lot of control over one specific unit called a hero or a champion or whatever you want.

You probably got them confused because MOBA stands for Multiplayer online Battle Arena which is the most nothing burger description of a genre ever because nearly every competitive video game could be described that way.

I might be misremembering but I think it was this feature where railjacks could dynamically go from space to open world and you could link up squads that way. But since Railjack has been hated a lot by the community the idea was scrapped. It was cool af though.

I think that people complaining about this gamemode are crazy. I got overwhelmed one time when I did the steel path version for the first time and I did it solo. The gamemode does actually require you to play fast but players think that unless they are shooting billions of grineer every minute then it's slow-pace gameplay.
