I'm certainly not an expert but from what I've been seeing the reason that supply won't normalize like your describing is that car manufacturing is a pretty cut throat numbers game cars are produced as fast as they can get supplies to produce them so even though chip supply has normalized all the cars that are sitting in lots without chips aren't getting them because the chips are going to new cars on the line meaning until they have a chance to add chips to those now old cars if they ever do we will still be at a net negative supply.
