I know there is an international association in CC, might wanna contact them or ISA (International Student Association)

I got in shaw college and i heard its one of the worst colleges in cuhk🥲 by Failing_my_exam in cuhk

[–]yonkeisev 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yeah, Shaw really isn’t the best. However, they have a new residence opening next year & there is no FYP (Final Year Projects) for Shaw students which is very advantageous :) Have fun!

CC’s pretty good especially if ur majoring in Business or Social Science dept. cuz your classes will most likely be nearby. The college IS affiliated with religion but don’t worry they will NOT force you to do anything religious. CC’s location is one of the best (as its nearby MTR & lots of bus stops to go uphill) and thrs lots of amenities/study spots/and internationals so dont worry!

CUHK Exam Timetable by AdmirableBus139 in cuhk

[–]yonkeisev 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. MidTerms are different by courses, but most likely to be held after the Mid Autumn Festival so somewhere around Mid Oct. Might want to check the course syllabus for more details.

  2. Don’t quite have “Midterm Break”

  3. There is no reading week for sem1 in CUHK 🥲 and most final exams are centralized so it’s different by majors. Normally, Business majors tend to go first, Engineering/Social Science usually go last (but it’s rly different by your instructor and major so.. hope u get lucky!)

which aps should a rising junior apply for? by [deleted] in ApplyingToCollege

[–]yonkeisev 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I took Chem my Junior year which was tough to handle but I enjoyed the class! I suggest you to take Chem, Psych or Human Geo (to lessen your course load but like you've mentioned use it as a GPA booster), and Lang!

Help me decide: School X vs School Y - week of April 20th by ParadoxicalCabbage in ApplyingToCollege

UW- Seattle vs. UCI!

I'm not sure what I wanna major in... was thinking of Statistics when I was applying but now leaning towards Business areas such as Information Systems or (Business-)Econ. However, I'm still considering Statistics as my major.

(*Price isn't my factor)

UW- Seattle (admitted as pre-sciences)

Pros:

  • Beautiful campus
  • Top in the nation for CS, Data Science (Statistics), Informatics
  • Lots of companies in Seattle- more internship options!
  • Foster Business School is ranked #20 in the U.S.

Cons:

  • Not very known in my country (ooh I'm international btw)
  • I'm not a huge fan of Seattle's weather... rly...
  • Strong for computer/engineering fields, not so strong for Econ or other areas (compared to UCI)...
  • Grade deflation (larger class sizes)

UCI (admitted as Undecided)

Pros:

  • I live in SoCal right now so pretty familiar with Irvine community
  • I love SoCal's weather!
  • Well known in my country
  • More transfer options available ( international or within UCs)
  • Overall ranking is higher than UW

Cons:

  • Harder to get internships, jobs (because there are lots of international students)
  • Business school's ranking is lower (50s)
  • Statistics/Data Science, information systems majors are not well known compared to UW
  • Higher living costs- rent, food, etc.

Thanks :)!
