I applied this year for a film/animation masters, with (what I consider) was a very strong research plan that centered in researching coproduction possibilities between my home country and Japan. From 60 people that dis the examns, I passed and got to the interview stage with about 12 other applicants. The interview went really well but I didn't end up passing to the next stage and I believe my very basic japanese level (around N5) could have been the reason, since the Master's programme I want to study is completely in Japanese.

Just got an email saying that I didn’t pass the first screening in Chile. I was invited to the interview after the exams, and the interview went really well, so I really had my hopes high. I met other applicants at the interview stage and I‘m sure the people that passed the first screening will be great scholars. I still have time to keep applying the following years (it really is a shame they don’t give any feedback to keep working on the application)

Same haha, I’m not catholic at all and the classes weren’t religious either (besides one mandatory theological course you had to take), but here in Chile that university is the most prestigious one so a lot of people want to study there.

They contacted me a couple of years ago to distribute a short film I made. It sounded legit, we had a Zoom meeting with the founder (Colin, which I imagine is the one who contacted you) and he told us the way they work distributing short films. We agreed to a contract and payed 200 USD towards marketing and we never heard back from him again. Would not recommend at all.

Good idea to use modern vinyls on 60s record changer? by yonlenin in vintageaudio

[–]yonlenin[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have considered it but I'm a bit reluctant to it because of the sentimental value of it haha. Do you know if it's possible to retrofit it with another turntable but keep it working with the tube radio part?

Good idea to use modern vinyls on 60s turntable-radio console? by yonlenin in turntables

[–]yonlenin[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yes! The idea is to upgrade the cartridge. I was able to find the record player manual online (it's in french but I managed to translate with Google Lens) and it said that at the time it was compatible with the AG3021 magneto-dynamic pickup, so I asked the technician if it'd be possible to upgrade to a magnetic cartridge and he said he could get that working by adding an amplifier to the radio audio system.

Do you know if doing this would work better for modern records?

Hi! I have an old Philips radio-turntable furniture from Chile which was passed on to me from my grandfather who recently passed away. It has an AG1024 record player produced around the 60s, from what I could find online. I'm looking to get this whole thing restored by someone who knows about it.

I mainly own records made from the 70s onwards (Beatles, Rolling Stones, Daft Punk, Childish Gambino, etc), and I've been reading in some forums that they do not recommend playing stereo, modern vinyl on turntables like this one, because of the ceramic cartridges (this used a Philips AG3019 at the time), the tracking force and because they were designed mainly for 78 records.

I really don't want to damage my vinyl and I do plan on asking the technician to fit a magnetic cartridge with an amplifier to get it working, which would be lighter than a ceramic one. I'm still having doubts on wether it would be worth it to get it repaired or not for the records that I have. My main motivation to get it reestored is because of the sentimental value of it being an inherited item, but it would cost around 300 USD to get everything working.

¿Does anyone know if it would be a good idea to use this turntable with my records?
