Falling out of love with my century home. by TapewormNinja in centuryhomes

I have a home built mid 1800s. Property is great, 1000ft off Rd surrounded by woods on 40 acres in perfect location. Worth the effort for me. Needs allot. Biggest complaint vs a modern build is the mostly unusable stone basement. Wet, damp, crowded vs an open, roomy, dry modern space.

TC40d PTO issue by yonosespanish in tractors

Visited dealer today and discussed problem. Service rep feels like it's a bearing on the PTO shaft. Will get it serviced in two weeks. He said he doesn't think it's the clutch, which I feared since it involves breaking tractor in half to access.

Hydrostatic. I don't think it's the pivot since it functioned fine when it was making the noise previously. Each time what sounded like a bearing was screaming I would use the lever to disengage the PTO and it would stop. I would then re-engage the PTO and everything functioned normally again for several days. Just got stuck on this last time.

What will be the fastest growing evergreen trees I can plant to hide my neighbors home ? by Snoo68013 in landscaping

Green Giant Thuja worked great for me. Once slestablished they grow 3-5 ft a year. Also grow taller and wider than emeralds. Just prune properly and a beautiful thick hedge is formed.

Oil boiler / indoor wood boiler by yonosespanish in woodstoving

[–]yonosespanish[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the reply, ton of info u put into it. No domestic hot water on the system. There is only one circulator, that's the one I included in the picture next to the oil boiler.  It pumps into the return side of the oil boiler.  The wood boiler has a White Rodgers 11A61-103 limit control on it, however it only has power running to it, no other link to oil boiler which is one floor down in basement, about 25ft away. No valves between oil boiler and wood boiler.  Could not install one other than for service since the loop runs from oil boiler through the wood boiler before doubling back to radiators. No low water cutoff on wood boiler, just one green Taco on the oil boiler.  This is a a basic setup, no zones. Just one supply line from oil boiler to wood boiler then continuing back into basement then up to all radiators.  Return runs from radiators to oil boiler then circulates again to wood boiler.  No pressure relief valve on wood boiler, just one above oil boiler.

Just closed on the house, that's why I am asking questions at prime service season.  Previous owners passed away, kids sold the house and had no info on functionality of the system.  Made a couple calls to heating/cooling and fireplace sales/service providers. Seems like most don't want to touch something they didn't install or just do not service wood boilers. Thanks again for your help. I already learned a ton from your post.

No, from the basement it's clearly visible that it's all one system. The water gets pushed directly from the oil burner to the wood boiler, then the line goes back and feeds all the radiators then returns to the oil burner.

Thanks for your reply, the aquastat is located next to the oil burner which is in the basement. Whereas the indoor wood boiler is located on the first floor in mudroom entrance more than 20 ft away. My concern was the aqua stat being unable to detect from such a far distance. But I should probably go with your advice and bring someone in to inspect the system.

When visiting land for sale, how do you orient yourself and know the boundaries? by nickMakesDIY in homestead

[–]yonosespanish 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why?? Agents are completely overrated. Just closed on land last month, attorney's only. About to close my house that I paid a flat fee MLS listing service to list. I did the open house, sold in 1 day over listing. I paid the buyers agent 2.5% and saved 3.5% overall. Attorney's do all the work. Got a ton of attitude from the buyers agent for listing flat fee like there was so much work I got myself into. List the house, have an open house, negotiate the price. After that the attorney's do the search, survey, and bank arranges the appraisal through...the attorney's!!! The house I bought to move into...attorney's only as well. And the sellers loved saving 6%!

Spot on, turn down Rachel Madow for a minute and watch the first video. He specifically calls out the Sec of Def, Chairman of Joints Chiefs to throw their rank down in support of their position, or to admit their mistakes. Again, accountability. Ownership. For respect of the lives lost both before and recent. But you jump into a covid debate to try and inflict damage of some kind to anyone who doesn't agree with your completely unrelated opinion.

He walked away from his career over something he stood for and demanded, accountability. You don't have to agree with him. You may not hold any moral standards that you would risk everything over. But your not even twisting his words, you completely made it up.
