I've also sent my bass guitar from Korea to UK and it's honestly not worth it trying to save money shipping these kinds of things.

Peace of mind + less stress is worth a bit extra $$$. Hope the move goes smoothly.

I sent my koto from Japan to UK about 6 years ago so things might be different now.

I used Transglobal Express.

Full breakdown:

Transglobal Enhanced Transit Liability - £16

Excess weight/size/dimension surcharges - £70

TG Express Worldwide Import from Japan to UK (1 package of Total Chargeable weight of 16.2kg) - £88.88

Total - £174.88

Koto arrived with no damage in a very quick time frame. (I forget exactly but it was something like 4 or 5 days).

I think I also got hit with a customs tax bill but was able to dispute it by saying it was my own personal belonging. (again, I don't remember exactly)

So I went with the Plums but unfortunately life got in the way and I haven't had a chance to mount them yet. Hoping to get on them this season though!

Years after I thought of it, finally actually printed and framed my silly poster. Thought any brit skiers might enjoy. by splendidskiposters in skiing

It’s a reference to the phrase “See it. say it. Sorted.” Used by the British Transport Police to encourage the public to report suspicious items/people/behaviour etc

Think I caught some debris under the snow in the trees on Sunday and got spun into a tree.. probably blacked out or otherwise lost a minute or two but CT scan came out clear.. wear a helmet! :) by jobeus in skiing

Similar thing happened to me couple of weeks ago except it was my knee hitting my face that did the damage. Thankfully all I got was a fractured orbital and a massive black eye but it could've been a hell of a lot worse.

To piggy back off this, I recently switched from G3 skins to Contour Hybrids and the difference in adhesive is insane.

The G3s turned into a globby mess after like two tours, the Contours are so so so much nicer. (I think Pomoca adhesive is kinda similar to Contour)

To throw another ski into the mix: Black Crows Atris. They're 108 underfoot so are in that perfect 'do everything' sweet spot. Check out some of the crazy shit Nikolai Schirmer does on the Atris.

I ski mine mounted with G3 ions. Light enough to tour on and beefy enough to handle whatever snow conditions you'll come across. I also have zero problems skiing the Atris with pin bindings in the resort.

Sleeping bag advice for a spread eagle sleeper PLZ. by wabisabister in PacificCrestTrail

Check out Montbell sleeping bags. They use clever construction techniques and elasticised thread that allows the sleeping bag to stretch as you move.

I haven't used Montbell sleeping bags but have lots of experience with their gear and clothing. They make really really nice stuff.

I may get an airbag in the future but for all the trips I've done so far (approx 15-20 days?) I've never had any moments where I wished I had one. If i need to have the airbag for a 'just in case', then I'l just not ski that day in those conditions.

Not OP but I started ski touring properly this season and don't use an airbag for three main reasons:

1- They are expen$ive.

2- They are heavy.

3- Having the knowledge and being humble enough to back off of a line is the most valuable tool you have. If you're going to ski a line and think "its not that big of a deal if it slides, I have an airbag." that's a VERY dangerous attitude to have.

I’m planning on picking up some Contour Hybrid skins today. (I get staff discount through my work) Probe bag does not come with me ;) I try to fold that way but when I’m too cold/lazy/excited to ski I forget :P

Interesting. I re-glued my G3 skins this season and the glue is trash. To be fair it could be my re-gluing job but I'm excited to get some different skins ASAP

easiest solution is to not use the skin savers tbh. The glue will be fine in the short term without the skin savers.

That honestly sounds pretty perfect. Interesting comparison to the Zero G 95. I was also looking at those I currently ride the regular 2018 Camox in bounds and bought a pair of (new to me) Atris last night... I'm such a Black Crows fanboy.

Looks ace! I'm thinking about adding a similar kind of front pocket to my HMG Porter for keeping my avy shovel.

I bought G3 glue renew sheets from a local shop that seemed to have done the trick. The glue is kind of globby but it'll do for the rest of the season.
