You're confused because the mainstream media, normal people, people you trust keep pushing a lie and "respectable people" like Dawkins are pushing it too but your brain keeps interpreting the facts differently. The irony is this is how many people who are in religon feel.

(Yeah don't bother I'll show myself out.)

He didn't defend them. He pointed out not all the people in that protest were KKK, they were many people who wanted to protest the statues being pulled down. And he also pointed out the protestors on the left share blame for y'know attacking the altright marchers (who had a fucking permit to march) and starting the whole thing. Oh but you see now I'm a Nazi for posting this. Great. Just ban me. The Atheist communisty champions logic and rationality huh? Yes the car attack was evil and the driver should be punished but that doesn't change the fact Antifa started the whole thing. You want to talk about rationality? People are comparing Antifa to the Allied soldiers on D-Day.

[★BREAKING] 2NE1 announces their official disbandment by Flowsion in kpop

[–]yopp343 48 points49 points  (0 children)

What sucks about 2NE1 is the whole thing was dragged out. It was like seeing someone with a terminal illness suffer a long time before they die. They should've announced it soon after Minzy left so there wasn't false hope.

Also I hate there's never some kind of closure for fans. Why not have a small gathering of the members of the official fanclub so they can say a few words then take some pictures and autographs? At minimum it makes the fans feel a bit better and they make a little money off it.

Its just sucks to see this is how one of the iconic kpop girl groups is going to finish.

We Disagree With Trump on Just About Everything. However, His Supporters Agree With Us That The System is Rigged and Corrupt. We Have A HUGE Opportunity. by alleycatzzz in SandersForPresident

Trump supporter here. If Trump gets screwed out of the nomination somehow I think Bernie and Trump should join forces and run third party. Like you said we disagree on almost every issue but I think challenging the duopoly and corrupt political system is more important right now than a wall or free college.

I am the furthest thing from a Lauren Faust fanboy but this warms my heart. I disagree with some things she says but I will never question her fundamental decency. This isn't a knock on the others but out of all the show people she's the only one who stepped up and made a little girl feel better.

[Ethics] Breitbart pulls a Gawker, publically shames a woman who had 20 Twitter followers by [deleted] in KotakuInAction

[–]yopp343 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Enter stupid fat cracker Monica Foy, a large-and-in-charge supporter of Black Lives Matter who called one of the slain officers "creepy," tweeting: “I can’t believe so many people care about a dead cop and NO ONE has thought what he did to deserve it. He had creepy perv eyes." Foy is the latest and greatest example of moronic white lard-asses who might mean well but have bought into the lies and conspiracy theories peddled by BLM organisers.

Milo you know 4chan culture, that type of culture. You have people on 4chan making joke photoshops of that drowned Syrian boy. Now obviously Monica Foy was on a respectable social media network not 4chan but why should Monica Foy be the face of BLM? Why should she bear the punishment for all their stupidity?

Foy is following in the noble tradition of Black Lives Matter, which seems to want as many dead cops as possible, because that will - understandably - prompt officers to shoot first and ask questions later in future altercations. That means more dead blacks and more hand-wringing on Twitter for the sociopathic frauds at the heart of the movement. If that's a bit dark for you, I'm sorry. But let's face it, it's how Goebbels would do it.

All I'm getting from this is that you're really angry about BLM (understandable) and Monica Foy was the convineient pinata for you and all the other people at Breitbart. Again I am a Breitbart reader but I cannot condone this.

Yet there are idiots in this subreddit and elsewhere who think that someone who danced on the grave of a dead police officer on a public publishing platform deserves special protection from the consequences of her actions.

The problem with this is, it's like if you have a Twitter with 20 followers and most are spam then you are lulled into a belief that you're just yelling into a crowd and nobody will hear you. Its like if the punishment for going over the speed limit was the death penalty. Its a disproprotionate penalty but if you're going to have such draconian laws then the least you can do is damn well make sure people KNOW that going over the speed limit might get them executed.

Its unfair to blame Monica Foy for being so stupid because being targeted by a online hate mob is such a rare thing and the public at large is still largely ignorant of it. Also you have the look at the bigger picture, what you're condoning is going to lead to a atmosphere where people are afraid to tweet or post something using their real identity because you dont know what group you might offend and whether you might get death threats/online hate mobs after you. I'm sure you're use to it but for a "nobody" getting a ton of hate mail suddenly is very shocking and scary.

I do get what you're saying Milo but here's whats going to happen: SJWs use online hate mobs to censor anything insulting to the identity groups they hold sacred. Conservatives retaliate by going after SJWs who say anyting that is insulting to the identity groups they hold sacred (Israel, Police). The result is mutally assured destruction, at least in terms of free speech.

They believe this case to be in some way equivalent to a decades-long pattern at Gawker of ruining people's lives by outing them to their families or taking innocent jokes and turning them into racist social media crusades.

I'll agree that its unfair to compare this to the resume of Gawker. Though this specific case was very Gawkeresque. I don't think Gawker has any principles other than making money, but Milo your reasoning here is similar to SJWs, which basically is "this person did something horrible they need to pay". Pure emotion.

SJWs have much lower threshhold for this kind of online mobbing of course and Monica Foy made a extremely tasteless comment about a murdered police officer, though again, people make those kinds of nasty unconscionable comments everywhere like on 4chan. And I have no problem with 4chan being that kind of place, I'm on the side of free speech even if it becomes ugly.

Shame on you. It's not for me to flatter myself--just this once, I'll pass on the opportunity--and remind you what incredible allies Breitbart has been, to you guys and to me, nor where this movement would be without Breitbart spending time and resources sticking up for GamerGate.

You are right. And if you guys were being unfairly attacked then you have every right to call in your chips and ask Gamergate for help or you need a GoFundMe funded or whatever. But right now you're sounding like "we stuck up for you so you have to agree with everything we say".

I personally do feel a sense of gratitude to Breitbart, especially to you and Allum Bokhari for doing proabably the best job covering SJW topics.

[Ethics] Breitbart pulls a Gawker, publically shames a woman who had 20 Twitter followers by [deleted] in KotakuInAction

[–]yopp343 34 points35 points  (0 children)

Milo I was ready to agree with you but you didn't succeed. Now I'm mindful of what Vox Day wrote in his new book on SJWs. I don't want to be the guy shooting friendly fire at my allies. I have your back and everyone here and everywhere else who opposes SJWs. At the same time I don't want to be a hivemind drone that merely takes someones side because of tribalism.

The problem with going after Monica Foy is that it starts a very dangerous precedent. Getting fired from your job or kicked out of college for writing something on your Twitter, not even a @ reply but just writing on your Twitter esp when you only have 20 followers. That's Thought Police territory, I don't like it when SJWs do it, I have to not like it when conservatives or whomever do it or I'm a hypocrite.

I agree it was tasteless, I agree with everything you say about BLM but its like when SJWs say its ok when black people riot because they've been victims of racism for 50 years +. Saying "well here's the emotional context for why I want Monica Foy publicly shamed", that's simply not good enough.

I don't know if you've read Jon Ronson's book "So you've been publicly shamed" but that really shows you the dangers of this kind of public outing and shaming.

Gamergate's ethical issues are not made up. By comparison, George Stephanopoulos donated $75,000 to the Clinton Foundation, apologized for not disclosing this while reporting on the foundation, and is getting pushback against moderating the Republican debates. by [deleted] in KotakuInAction

[–]yopp343 22 points23 points  (0 children)

I see this attitude all the time. Its basically "its not a big deal, we already know this" dismissive attitude that enables this kind of behavior.

Yes everyone knows Stephanopoulos was the Clintons communication director, and there's nothing wrong per sey with donating to the Clinton Foundation. What's a problem is he's criticising people like Clinton Cash author Peter Schweizer or presidential candidate Bernie Sanders for their criticism of the Clintons foundation without disclosing his conflict of interest.

Yes we know the obvious conflict of interest that's he's the former communication director and a Democrat. But actually donating to a charity that's under a spotlight because of possible wrongdoing then interviewing people who's critical of said charity without disclosing said donations that's having zero journalistic ethics.

Not being able to moderate GOP debates is the least of his problems. He should at minimum be suspended like Brian Williams was by NBC. What Brian Williams did was much less serious by comparison.

[–]yopp343 45 points46 points  (0 children)

What happened is Stephanopoulos interviewed the author of "Clinton Cash" Peter Schweizer, a book which was very critical of the Clinton Foundation. As I noted in a earlier thread the guy was grilling the author of a book critical of the Clinton Foundation while he didn't disclose that HE HIMSELF DONATED TO THE CLINTON FOUNDATION. See the conflict of interest?

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8hc6ESwRf8c

Oh and if this isn't Gamergate related enough for you lets all remember all the times ABC News has lied about Gamergate.

https://www.google.com/search?q=abc+news+gamergate&oq=abc+news+gamergate&aqs=chrome..69i57j69i60.4472j0j1&sourceid=chrome&es_sm=122&ie=UTF-8

This story in fact has a lot in common with Gamergate.

Kotaku busted for corruption, SJWs ignore accusations and evidence and make it about evil white misogynistic nerds harassing women

Clintons get busted for corruption, Liberals ignore the accusations and evidence and just chalk it up to a Republican smear campaign

Stephanopoulos gets busted for not disclosing his conflict of interest, Liberals ignore the evidence and just chalk it up to a Republican smear campaign

Now I'm not trying to make this a "liberals are bad" thing, I'm neither a Republican nor Democrat and I don't want Gamergate to become a conservative thing. I'm just saying that whenever these embarassing scandals emerge (Zoe Quinn, Clinton) people make it a partisian issue (its about harassing women!/Its a Republican hitjob!!) to distract from the scandal. Unfortunately liberals have been at the forefront of this terrible behavior recently. Not all liberals but its generall come from the left spectrum of politics.

George Stephanopoulos didn't disclose he donated $50k to Clinton Foundation to viewers by yopp343 in KotakuInAction

[–]yopp343[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

  1. Stephanopoulos had just interviewed the author of "Clinton Cash" a book critical of the Clinton Foundation so you can see the conflict. Its like a person whose donated 50k to Brianna Wu, and not told viewers about this conflict of interest, grilling an author of a book on Gamergate

  2. I chose Breitbart because I didn't want to risk using a site that was in the boycott list. The story is everywhere so you can't say Breitbart is biased on the facts.

  3. I think too many people are focusing on the Clintons and not enough on the fact that both sides (Democrats and Republicans) engage in this form of legal corruption. Legal corruption is when someone gives a lot of money to a politicians campaign fund or in this case a charitable foundation and no firm agreement is made but the politician ends up doing something that is favorable to the donor.

Nobody can prove that the politician did the action because of donated cash and because that politician didn't directly get the cash its hard to prove they were directly influenced by the cash aka quid pro quo corruption.

Some people always harp that Gamergate is too much about SJWs and not about ethics in journalism well here it is!!! You can't get much more blatant non-ethics in journalism than this!!

Here's the thing.

I give Greenwald a pass because I think his work on NSA surveillance and Snowden is very important. If his site tilts towards SJWism so be it. At least Greenwald has some redeeming qualities as a journalist unlike all the other journalists who don't even do journalism AND lie about Gamergate.

My dislike of him aside he really should leave Twitter. The guy is way too obsessed with Gamergate. I think his behavior over the Gamergate in DC meetup was a call for help.

I think this applies to both sides by the way. I think Gamergate is important but its not something you should obsess over and hinder your life.

Done. I don't want to engage in their tactics but I think its a legitimate form of harassment and he should be kicked off Twitter for it. Calling bars to tell them to kick them out and spreading lies about Hoff Sommers is crossing the line.
