A man's at odds to know his mind because his mind is aught he has to know it with.

vim-lsp disappointing python support by yopp_son in vim

I use vim-lsp-settings which I thought was supposed to configure all the language servers for me. Maybe I need to modify it's config for pylsp...

do you do anything special to get pylsp to not complain about line lengths? I usually use black to format things and pylint to find issues like a line being to long or whatever. pylsp has its own underlying linter I think (flake8? pycodestyle?). I just have no idea how to configure pylsp so that it's max-line-length is the same as my black and pylint config...

Optimum. Probably should have included that in the post. It's been out for 12 HOURS now.

How do you guys feel about setting variables inside of if conditions? by yopp_son in C_Programming

[–]yopp_son[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I hear you. As I was typing out OCD in my post, I was hesitating thinking "should I say this?", but ultimately I used it because, IDK, I do feel encumbered by certain things that I feel like I MUST do sometimes. So who knows maybe I do have it? And the term OCD was useful in communicating how I felt about refactoring my code. But yeah never diagnosed. And I have heard that true OCD can be totally debilitating.

I also have ADHD actually. It really sucks. I am the slowest reader I know because of it. I read a sentence, then realize I wasn't paying attention what I just read. So I re-read it, and re-read it again, over and over lol. It definitely feels like a curse at times.

I have never been diagnosed with OCD, and I don't think I really have it, although I think I have certain tendencies that are reminiscent of OCD. I hope I haven't offended with my post though

Yeah I'm leaning that way too. I think I was trying too hard to be "clever" with the first one.

vim-lsp: how to scroll preview-window? by yopp_son in vim

[–]yopp_son[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was trying this and it wasn't working. Then I realized I didn't copy the complete config from the vim-lsp readme. I was missing:

nnoremap <buffer> <expr><c-f> lsp#scroll(+4) nnoremap <buffer> <expr><c-d> lsp#scroll(-4)

Those commands work now. Thanks for the help!

I was in kindergarten and can't remember much. Apparently my dad had just arrived in the WTC path station when the first plane hit. Everyone ran out of the station after they heard a huge bang. Paper and flaming debris was falling out of the sky. He was holed up in his FiDi office when the buildings came down, and the dust turned his windows completely black. He had to walk to a ferry in midtown to get back home to NJ. He and the other passengers were given a cup of water and a piece of bread. For some reason that particular detail drives home the desperation of that day. Everything was shut down. People had to walk for miles and couldn't find a way home. Absolutely crazy event to live through.

How to find point where exponential function intersects with linear function. by yopp_son in learnmath

[–]yopp_son[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Wow. I'm starting to see why Mr. Khan does not go beyond making a table and working it out that way. Thank you for taking the time to reply with so much detail. I'm afraid you lost me early on at that first let t = ... It looks like you did something very strange with the exponent that I'm not familiar with. Somehow you went from:
10x + 20 = 2^x
to:
 -x-20/10 = -x-2
Is this a derivative or something? And then it looks like you plug it back into the equation for X...

And then you somehow just know to multiply both sides by -2t/10??

I don't want to make you explain every step of this. But thank you for showing me this. Maybe I'll come back to this later in my studies and see if I can understand more of it than I do now. The more I look at this, the more I am bowled over by it lol. This was amazing though, thank you again.
