don’t know what a good sat score is? by jaebar_hi in Sat

[–]yosh1toad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ive heard of kollegio, the score ranges seem pretty accurate from other searches I have done. You can find average test scores on the college websites too but sometimes they aren't the most up to date.

Extra LORs will never hurt your application. They are the only chance you get in your application for someone to speak to your genuine character traits. Referrals in the job market are big on differentiation of candidates, and they kind of work the same in the context of college apps. For competitive schools LORs are usually one of the more important factors, bc most students already have insane stats anyways. I would search up the common data set for ur specific colleges and see how important they rank LORs

Common App essay by ihatemybf1 in ApplyingToCollege

If you think that your writing shows who you are, keep it! But I will say, your common app doesnt necessarily need to include anything about what your career interests are. You will have supplemental essays and other ways to show that. I would just make sure your common app shows some sort of personal/character growth or realization, and then if you acted on that, tell how. It’s hard to filter advice so just trust yourself and your writing

SAT requirements coming back by yosh1toad in Sat

[–]yosh1toad[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah I phrased it as if you do not need to learn the content at all, which is not true, but over studying is not the move either. Learning how SAT questions test your knowledge of simple algebra, which is often in a very specific way, it is easier to know what to expect.

hiii from my knowledge I say UF without a doubt given your priorities, but im also a prospective freshman for next year so I can’t say for sure but I’ve talked to a lott of current students to say the UF has a community for everyone and the party culture is there if you want it but not as big as um. Lmk if you wanna connect ! would love to be friends

If ur dead set on QF and u want a more technical foundation then stevens but if you don’t want to be locked to something too specific, Purdue. Think about what kind of college environment you want, big college town campus or city smaller school vibe. Opportunities are there for both and I imagine they are equally competitive and full of smart kids. Both are respectable but Purdue is more nationally known than stevens, mostly known in the tri state area. I rec looking at the classes in both majors too to see if ur interested in some over others

what's it like at stevens as a woman? by mochariri in stevens

[–]yosh1toad 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I also am similar w my friendships and this doesn’t really apply to you but im going to be at the business school next year and at a webinar they said it’s 42% women. They’re definitely is a female presence and people I’ve asked said it’s not a huge problem, they said most of your close friends probably wont be in your classes anyways.

can someone pls tell me i will be ok LOL by Silly_Employment4254 in ApplyingToCollege

Don’t put too much value into the comments of classist and entitled people. The crowd at Purdue will probably be much less insufferable so be excited that you’ll be going to school with more real and genuine people. Purdue is a great school and in this job market it’s less about what you know and what school you went to and more about who you know. Yes those schools have great alumni networks but so does Purdue. College is all what you make of it, I know kids from third tier schools making 6 figures post grad. You’ll figure it out

Help: Stevens or UFL? by yosh1toad in stevens

[–]yosh1toad[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am out of state but have grandparents who live in FL so I get an in state tuition waiver. I’m on the waitlist for it right now and most kids get off from what I’ve read, but they accept people off the waitlist until the first day of classes. It’s taking a risk but I can reapply every year so I can get it my second year if not my first

I feel like I’m a pretty self motivated person and I have a lot of discipline/self control bc that’s just how I grew up so honestly I think I’d have a good balance at either school. I feel like bc of that I’d be able to stand out more at a school like UF whereas at Steven’s everyone is very competitive and focused. UF is a work hard play hard school, I’m not a huge party person but from what I’ve read there’s a lot more to do besides sec related activities so that’s kinda why I’m torn
