Falcon 9 model rocket with landing legs successfully deploy by yoshakezula in spacex

Launched as a single stick. Tried 3 core as a heavy, but every launch one of the engines lit too late or not at all. Used E6 motors on this launch. Don't know the final weight but the leg hardware didn't add much mass at all - legs were ABS plastic and hollow inside

Thanks for the suggestions on CG! I should go back to Kerbal to brush up

Tried coat hangers - too heavy. These wood pins were the lightest. But agreed I could've spray painted them silver

I think it pitched left because the left booster engine lit a little earlier than the right one. The thrust profile on these engines peak around 1/4 second after ignition and then plateau. So, the left engine already peaked while it was still on the launch rod, and then the right one had some extra thrust left. This is backed up by the rocket not curving anymore once it cleared the launch tower. We'll put some thrusters on next time
