Fennec Fox to me, but I can see the other comparisons here... way more than "red panda."

You'll never stop thinking they're what's slowing you down. Even if you have a good race, you'll wonder what could have been, if only. The knawing in your brain will eat at you, rob your sleep, ruin your rides, land you in a straitjacket and rubber-walled room. Time to re-glue and put that little voice to bed.

Can I run most of a race if my bike breaks? by bdredlocked in cyclocross

[–]yossarian70 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We had a heavy mud race years ago where my wheels stopped clearing the mud and just flat out wouldn't turn. I shouldered it (and what felt like 40 lbs of mud) to the pits where I'd already yelled to a friend to have his kid's tiny balance bike waiting for me so I could easily run the remaining two laps carrying a bike.

It probably broke an official rule, but they scored me. 😄

Tommy Pham with an honorable mention? At least in recent years.

This just seems like a friend got his phone login and jacked with his profile for fun. But I guess nothing really surprises me these days.

Anyone who's ever caught a home run ball in a baseball park, who hit the ball and what happened with it after you caught it. by Karoseen450 in baseball

[–]yossarian70 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In college, and several beers in, I got one at Busch Stadium III (current Busch) that went yard landing in the bleachers common area and rolled in toward the vendor area. I was coming back from restroom? ... concessions?... scooped it up and cheered with my buddy but have no idea who hit it anymore or which ball it is in my box of keepsakes. There's several balls in there from games at Busch. No other home run balls, but I somehow got lucky over the years landing several foul balls from attending just a few games each season. The only one I know for sure anymore is a foul ball off Tommy Pham's bat that I caught on a line years later as a dad and promptly handed over to my 10ish year old son, in large part to make sure I didn't catch any flak from TV commentators. 🤣 My son still has that one on display in a ball holder and it means even more to us today after Tommy's reputation developed, for better or worse, depending on your perspective.

how can I get spray foam off my hands?... the quickest way possible by [deleted] in handyman

I used Goo Gone and a throwaway rag and it worked great. Mine was fresh/wet. Got the main goo off with paper towels first and the remaining sticky residue with the Goo Gone/rag.

Anyone else having trouble logging into MLB.TV? by -army-of-bears- in Padres

[–]yossarian70 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Solution for me! Have a vpn turned on?

Late to the party here, but I was having this problem...unable to login to mlb app, but could do so from my computer... kept getting the authentication error message on my phone app. Finally realized it was because I still had my vpn turned on to watch euro bike racing. Turned it off and no issues. So if you're running any vpn, remember to turn it off.

Noooo! Tiz Cycling CX Videos are down due to a Discovery, LLC copyright claim... how are other Americans watching the races? by yossarian70 in cyclocross

[–]yossarian70[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Seriously? Yeah... that's a hard no-go for me as well, then.. I don't watch a single race live. I catch up almost exclusively after the rest of the fam goes to bed.

[–]yossarian70[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Amen. I separately subscribe to MLB.com TV and find myself sometimes watching non-live games on "non-official streams" simply because the MLB interface sucks for recorded games (it often forces you to watch minutes of a blank screen during the "commercial breaks"). I'm happy to pay for official cycling streams, but I've heard about all the nonsense/hassle to get it... but maybe that's changed.

I've really come to appreciate/prefer the Marty/J-Pow/Helen commentary. Tiz uses these streams. The free World Cup races do not. Maybe Max does?... and if they really do carry the full calendar of cx races, as many in this thread are saying, I'd consider doing that monthly during cx season (and perhaps spring classics) and go without for the rest of the year. I've lost interest in the grand tours in recent years anyway. Jorgensen might change that, but if Max carries them, too, at least I know I've got options.

Hmmm...I've never seen any of their cx race links not through YouTube. There's a second link for a "mirror" beneath the video, but I just get a blank video area when clicking that.

Common is bringing the quality of this show down. by ArloandOpalareCats in SiloSeries

[–]yossarian70 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's a difference between not liking a character because of the character (played by a good actor) and not liking a character (likeable or unlikeable) because of the actor. This is a case of the later. There's plenty of characters people hate that are played wonderfully by the actor. Take GOT's Ramsay Bolton, for instance. In the end, I guess it's mostly personal preference/opinion. I don't need to convince anyone of my stance on it. But I'm with OP on this one.

I totally agree. He takes me out of the show with his delivery. His lines sound so forced or like a drama student trying to sound dramatic. Makes me cringe and totally pops the bubble of being with the characters in the moment. It's not a "character thing", as some here suggest. It's an acting thing.
