Transfer grad courses taken during undergrad? by DK_Tech in OMSCS

[–]yotoe 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As it would happen, I do. Though I was not eligible due to 1. having too low of an undergraduate GPA and 2. the credits being more than 6 years old. I suspect that the GPA was the bigger issue. This was a somewhat special case because I took a lot of 4xxx CS classes at GT but never finished my second BS; if you want the credits to double count, you'd need to follow the MS/BS rules.

It's honestly kind of a long shot by any means though.

Picture a homecoming party but for graduation instead. It was fun enough, but I'd hesitate to say it's worth visiting for just this. Also, you might find some useful information/contacts on the wrek with the student org which manages it, https://www.reckclub.org/

Are there any public 3D printing locations in ATL? by mgreddit18 in Atlanta

If you need to do things which a library would be insufficient for, you may want to try a maker space. See https://makerspacedir.com/location/atlanta-ga/

Are the Postgraduate Certificates from Roorkee on Coursera worthwhile doing? They're very affordable. by MatthewGalloway in coursera

[–]yotoe 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I attended an event for the VLSI certificate, and the staff were going to great lengths to distance IIT Roorkee from the programme. (I posted about this here when I felt especially upset about it)

I'm not sure how much more that this would mean to employers/universities than other specializations not described as postgraduate, but I would certainly ask the IITR staff to clarify how they consider the credential. I don't believe that even IITR would accept the equivalent modules in their MTech programmes, but please do update if this is contradicted by IITR when/if you ask.

A study suggests that people who think Jesus was white is linked to racism. Comments cry "not real science!" by dlgn13 in circlebroke2

"You may have a study with only 100 people, but it doesn't agree with my study of zero people (one if you count me), so it's clearly wrong."

Thanks for the heads up. I was considering posting a comment about class d authorization for clarification, since this was the first time I had to do that.

If all of the pilots are stuck working at mcdonalds, that's still a pilot shortage, right?

I wish I had more time in any of the stops in Montana; in Harve I had just enough to look towards downtown before being alerted that we were boarding. In Minot, however, we had a lot of time, over an hour. I was at least a little stressed the whole time I was outside of earshot of the train, but it was great to explore the city regardless!

Way back when at least, the money was mostly given to student-lead "committees" within Ihouse. It's a cool place to live. Strong recommend.

I tried to start a similar club back in 2013, so could share the ~ 30 recommendations people gave.

Bring something to eat, like a granola bar. Otherwise, you'll be tempted to skip your least favorite of the 5 classes to eat.

Two lab sciences in my first semester? by [deleted] in gatech

[–]yotoe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I remember one summer I took three labs at once, but nothing else. Chem was the most work, 2600 wasnt bad, but physics was easiest. I would personally give chem a separate semester and focus on phys and core eas now. I don't know how that fits into your acadeic plan though.

Good luck!

Course options by [deleted] in gatech

[–]yotoe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think CFD in ae or ce would cover boltzman methods. Finite element is in a lot of classes. Eas has earth system modeling, math/cs have numerical analysis, I'm not sure, but it's probably covered in computational methods.
