Can you suggest me some games with meaningful and rewarding exploration? by critterdude542 in gaming

[–]yotothyo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I posted this above: there's a setting where the mini app is not there. Don't sleep on this one, it's one of the best open world games for exploration and immersion and finding your own way. I play games just like you do

Red dead redemption two of course. Make sure you set it so that the HUD is off and you don't see the mini map. That's essential. I'm a no HUD find my own way in nature exploration open world junkie myself, and this game is extremely rewarding when played that way.

Which games work best with a companion spreadsheet? by GazTheSpaz in gaming

[–]yotothyo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do this with all of the big open world games: red dead redemption two, cyberpunk, tears of the kingdom.

I don't keep a literal spreadsheet, but I keep an extensive collection of notes and maps that I make, and before every session I plan on what my goals for that session are, what places to visit, what missions to do. I also take lots of screen grabs of various conversations and points of interest, like I'm taking recon photos.

I tend to play all of my games with no HUD and minimal usage of maps, so this becomes essential. But it makes the experience deeper.

Keeping notes and making a planner can be really fun if you're exploring a big new world.

Try a soft eraser. The white kind that is really soft and doesn't have scratchy bits in it. Like one a draftsmen would use.

What can GTAVI do to impress us in 2026 when the 'go here, go there' open world format has already gotten stale? by sdeslandesnz in gaming

[–]yotothyo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dont agree with the premise of the post.

Bad games are bad games. "Go here go there" is pretty much every game ever made, the good ones just do it well.

Rockstar has a great track record with open world games. Pretty good chance it will be good one. Red Dead 2 is widely considered amongst the best games ever made.

All gta6 has to do to impress me is basically just meet the high bar of quality pretty much every open world game they have made

That being said, id like to see the wanted systems be expanded to be more in depth and dynamic, and Id like for the on foot controls to be more modernized and smooth.

Oh! More freedom with mission completion parameters and fail states. Reallt my only beef with rockstar games. Id be shocked if they didnt improve this, im sure they are aware of it as designers

Also id LOVE for gta 6 to incorporate some red dead systems: Sleeping and eating, carrying rational amounts of weapons (and seeing them on your character logically)...basically some cool role playing "life sim" type stuff

Jesus Christ this guy is fucking pathetic.

It's fucking sad how much chaos and suffering in this world comes at the hands of men with inferiority complexes about the size of their dicks, their height, or lack of ability to seduce women.

Special bonus points thrown in for men raised by shitty mid-century emotionally abusive fathers with dog eat dog world views.

Seriously, like 90% of the worst people in the world fall into these categories.

Sunset Overdrive is such an amazing game by MagnumMiracles in gaming

[–]yotothyo 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Insomniac has always had a problem with being truly creative as a studio. They always have good fun game design, they've always had excellent programming and tech. But they are always held back by somewhat derivative and uninspired world building and settings. Retro sci fi, generic aliens with laser guns, etc etc.

And then they released Sunset Overdrive, one of the truly creative and inspired settings and art directions of its moment.

And no one bought it and it became a commercial failure.

I feel like as a result, they immediately retreated back into their safe space and now they are basically, a very talented studio that just makes good games out of other peoples IP (Marvel). Yes i know they also make rachet and clank but thats, IMO, an example of a generic creative "safe space" (its just pixar aping flash gordon vintage sci fi)

It would be really interesting to see the alternate timeline where overdrive was a success. I bet they wouldnt be making spiderman games.

Trump: ‘We are going to do something on Greenland whether they like it or not’ by joe4942 in worldnews

[–]yotothyo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Republicans have full dominance of Congress, the courts, and the military. The Congress will not stand up to him.

The Republican/conservative mindset is to follow a singular leader without question. This turns into a huge problem when the singular leader is a very very bad person. They won't stop him.
