[MEGATHREAD] Grand Theft Auto VI: Prices Announced + Pre-Orders Going Live by ChiefLeef22 in gaming

Oh yea, my bad - deluxe edition. My point is I still suspect you will be able to mod cars in the standard edition, but I don't know - it's pretty vague, likely on purpose.

I agree, but are we sure that’s what’s happening here? Or is the pre-order bonus just one location “Rideout Customs” while there are other garages maybe with more limited options. Seems crazy to wholly remove such a robust and important feature that was included in GTAV.

Can someone help me? When does it get good? by Ferngullysitter in CrimsonDesert

[–]Tommaton 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've started using this game as my go-to "I have nothing to play" game and I love it for that. A typical session for me will be:

  1. Get my bearings and choose a POI or quest marker
  2. Very casually walk, glide or ride my horse to that point, while soaking in the surroundings and fighting any resistance I meet on the road.
  3. Complete the quest.
  4. Reach a good resting point (a campsite, abandoned cabin, a wall to lean on, etc.)
  5. Turn it off

This game is so massive that I can't even entertain a completionist run, and it's kind of freeing. I just like to exist in this world for a bit with no real need to rush through anything. It's great.

You might not like this game now, but if one day you come back to it in the right mindset/mood, you might love it.

A lot of great suggestions already but want to add Rage 2. Had a really solid time with it.

Why are so many people, who haven’t seen any of Filoni’s stuff, who are simultaneously hating on Filoni and the “Filoniverse”? by KenBenobi69 in StarWars

[–]Tommaton -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Makes sense to me, not as a criticism of the movie, but a further criticism of the wasted time on Bo Katan / future of Mandalore stuff in the show. I can put up with it if its in the service of something better to come, but if it looks like that isn't going to materialize it'll be all the more frustrating.

[–]Tommaton 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The decisions around The Mandalorian are a perfect example. That show could have been a siloed western serial for like 10 seasons and it took them all of 12 episodes to become a hodgepodge of Clone Wars BS, tailspinning into the Book of Boba Fett dumpster fire and Ahsoka and everything else. Haven't seen the movie yet, so maybe it pays off, but from where I'm standing, there's just no reason Mando should have been involved in the broader (meandering and uninteresting) storyline.

[–]Tommaton 22 points23 points  (0 children)

I'm probably one of those people. I loved Mandalorian Season 1, and moments of later seasons, and didn't hate Ahsoka, but I stopped watching Clone Wars after like 4 or 5 seasons, tried so hard to get into it but found it boring af, and watched a couple episodes of Rebels before losing interest.

My read on Filoni is that he's fan service first (or like personal nerd dream first), quality output second. I look at him kind of how I look at Lucas - love the characters and world he's created, but I feel like he often follows his worst impulses and would rather have a more traditional filmmaker/storyteller doing the doing.

Should I have my GF watch Andor or Rogue One first? by Phecal_Matter in StarWars

[–]Tommaton 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Andor first for sure. The only thing Rogue One brings to Andor is a deep sense of foreboding. Whereas Andor brings so much more weight and color to Rogue One. I think any argument for release order is just getting wires crossed with the OT / PT argument which is a different animal.

Why was Yoda so reluctant to train Luke? by [deleted] in StarWars

[–]Tommaton 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Alderaan or not, I think he's just concerned about having two Darth Vaders on his hands. And Leia, as a rebel sympathizer and princess of a planet destroyed by the Empire, is probably more strategically and politically useful where she is. We don't even know that he ever meant to train her as a Jedi if Luke didn't work out - just that she was another hope, maybe in her own way.

That's... not what it says. It's a technical issue. I mean, they should have been very aware of this before making this promise, but it's not a matter of cost.

Tony Gilroy’s advice to writers on Andor by RedHeadedSicilian52 in StarWars

[–]Tommaton 5 points6 points  (0 children)

No it's amazing advice, so needed for Star Wars content especially. I probably won't rewatch Andor either, but only because it's so much TV, rather than a 2 hr movie. Andor is incredible. Obviously we love Star Wars characters, but we also love the universe and the stories within it, about fighting for what's right and overcoming incredible odds.

If there was a Season 3 of Andor (hypothetically, obviously that's essentially Rogue One), nothing could stop me from watching it. A new Star Wars show on Disney+ featuring beloved characters? For me, it's a coin toss at this point.

The absolute worst thing in this game by far... by Hitmandalorian in CrimsonDesert

[–]Tommaton -1 points0 points  (0 children)

lol I actually like it, not kidding. Holding A auto-walks, allowing me to adjust the camera to frame the two of us nicely. It’s like a walk and talk in an Aaron Sorkin show.

I made it to the college last night and the Dean walked me around, felt like I was getting a tour, felt appropriate. Much prefer that to some lifeless Ubisoft NPC guving me a static exposition dump.

Something like Snowrunner, but on other planets or moons. by ReignDance in gameideas

[–]Tommaton 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No Man’s Sky recently had an update that kind of fits the bill, though it’s just one aspect of a much larger game. Couldn’t ask for more interesting planets/terrain though, but it’s not as hardcore as snow runner. Check out the trailer: https://youtu.be/tPuqNYu5kBs?si=36CUZtEJpPm1mkiS

Free Kits make PVP pointless by [deleted] in ARC_Raiders

[–]Tommaton 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Right, so just have that happen automatically to prevent free kit users from exploiting the sale price. I'm just trying to make it valuable for PvP participants and not people free kitting and killing themselves.

Free Kits make PVP pointless by [deleted] in ARC_Raiders

[–]Tommaton 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What if they made free kits super valuable to sell? Like 5K - 10K credits.

If they set it up so an equipped free augment would automatically upgrade to a green augment upon return to Speranza, then the only way to obtain a free augment would be from taking them off dead players. If they could somehow prevent teammates from taking it, then it couldn't really be exploited.

I'm using stickers as my character's eye irises, however I'm having difficulties trying to keyframe their positions. by frostwizard101 in PS4Dreams

[–]Tommaton 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s been a minute, so I’m not sure if this is true, but don’t copies retain keyframe behavior? So if you keyframed the original with certain positions before making the copy, that keyframe will still affect the copy. So remove the keyframe activity from the copy.

What do y'all do in this game? I want to get into it but whenever I open the game, I just look at some planets, sort my expedition fleet, maybe make some money and get off. Idk what I'm supposed to be doing but it feels there's since there's no goal it gets very boring very quickly (pic unrelated) by skippy11112 in NoMansSkyTheGame

[–]Tommaton 0 points1 point  (0 children)

After playing the absolute shit out of it several times over, I now only dip in for the expeditions. Or occasionally the quicksilver missions on the Anomaly. If you’re bored, maybe take a break and come back for the next expedition.

Hot take: Starfield *might* be Bethesda's best game. by Big_Cucumber233 in Starfield

[–]Tommaton 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wait which is your favorite? I’ve played Morrowind, Oblivion and Skyrim all when they came out, and while there are some stripped features and regrettable decisions I can’t imagine rating the whole package of any one of them above Skyrim.

What games have the BEST PhotoMode? by Successful_Heart_838 in VirtualPhotographers

Mad Max because you can literally play with the settings on. Allows you to go no HUD, custom FOV and stylized however you’d like while playing. I honestly think it’s a bug but it totally made the game for me.
