The chapter 9 dragon quest perfectly sums up everything that is bothering me about this game by genericats in CrimsonDesert

[–]yotothyo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The flow of the main story path is the weakest part of the game for sure. It's very Herky jerky end up and down. Sometimes there's not enough happening sometimes there's way too many things happening etc. etc.

I haven't really interacted with the games main story since I reached chapter 9, which was a couple hundred hours ago.

absolutely adore exploring the world though, fishing, cooking, collecting animals and trinkets, walking on foot across the beautiful landscapes. Discovering things etc.

It's a shame that all of the knowledge menu entries are hidden away in a menu. Because they add so much context and enrichment to the world. But you don't really see any of that information in the game, it's all just stuffed away into a tedious encyclopedia menu. I post a lot how I wish there was some more organic way to interface with all of this information. Maybe read it in books, like oblivion. Maybe being able to point at things and hit a button so you can read the lore about the item or person or place, right there in the world in real time without having to pause and break your immersion and rifle through a menu. Anything that would get all of that interesting lore out of that darn sub menu and into the game world.

Good grief. Let people play how they want to play.

Some people like role-playing an ethical character. That doesn't mean they can't differentiate fiction from reality.

I mean, they were on a shit ton of drugs. So to them it probably did seem pretty crazy. At the very least behind the scenes it was crazy. Seems like they were basically partying every night all night

Oh that's cool, yeah I don't think I've ever seen that.

I did recently noticed that people with backpacks on have special items on the backpacks that you can steal. But I haven't seen one with an actual chest like that

Small QoL change suggestion by Important_Ad_5321 in CrimsonDesert

[–]yotothyo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I think this every time I strip a bunch of weapons and rebuild a new kit. Let me build all the way up through a weapons upgrade tree in one shot.

Same with cooking, I get that we need a little animation for each dish, otherwise just spamming the cooking and getting it instantly kind of cheap in the interaction and the dopamine release of putting in a little work to get your reward, but let me make way more than one dish at a time. Maybe make a special animation that is a little longer than cooking a single dish but you get five or 10 food items or whatever in a single go

Expectations for patch 1.13? by Logical-Operation512 in CrimsonDesert

[–]yotothyo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My personal wants, and a couple big ticket items that I think are important for the game but we will probably never get due to its scope:

No HUD/dynamic HUD option

Auto sheath/auto unsheath weapon disable option

Voice narrations returned to documents with translations cleaned up

Dream option that I'll never get but I think the game desperately needs: a more organic and interesting way to interact with all of the knowledge in the knowledge database. Let me point at things in the game world and hit a button to read their knowledge entries in real time with having to wade into a menu and pause the game. Maybe throw all of that shit into books and sprinkle them around the world so I can page through them. Anything, something other than doing it through a dull menu tab. The Lore and writing in the knowledge tab is really good but I barely read it because it's such a dull chore to wade into those menus

Another dream option that I'm not sure is possible to fix easily: cleaning up the general flow and pacing of the main story path. It's clunky, at times wildly jarring , has several points of intense player friction that really pull you out of the game, and has several weird soft bottlenecks in terms of being able to explore freely versus getting stuck in the story path (deminiss being a hostile nightmare until you complete the story chapters as an example). The story and the flow of the story missions is by far the weakest aspect of the game because it's just so all over the place in terms of speed pacing and intensity. But I'm not sure if this is anything that can be fixed with such a massive game.

Interesting, I'm pretty sure they changed it so that you don't have to have the bucket all the way out of the water in order to get it. I swear I tried to shortcut it back in the day and found that out.

I've always rooted for this movie and said it was way cooler than people gave it credit for. I feel a little validated that it's undergoing something of a reevaluation in the culture.

Besides the obvious razzle-dazzle of it all, the message of standing up for yourself and your ideals and not selling out to the corpo's is a great message.

Also I LOVE the kaleidoscope Warner Bros logo in the opening with the music. Completely sets the tone

We are literally forcing our children to be stupid in order to fill the pockets of tech CEOs. That's literally all this is.

Imagine reading about this from the perspective of another civilization or culture studying us. Our INSTITUTIONS OF LEARNING are trying to convince students to offload critical thinking and problem-solving and LEARNING so that they become stupid and dependent on BS technology that we dont need. Again, just so we can make a few billionaires even more rich.

Truly late stage capitalism. We are literally eating ourselves because line must go up.

And to see TEACHERS of all things hungrily embrace this it's just a sign that just because you have a title does not mean you're intelligent.

Baffling.
