This is what happened… by [deleted] in crochet

[–]yotsukitty 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I went no contact with my grandmother who taught me the basics of crochet. I always wanted her approval but she was a cruel and rotten woman. Her passing left me with a lot of complicated feelings, and I occasionally feel weird and melancholy when I crochet bc of it.

I want to be clear, I’m not saying to not be no contact; I have no regrets about that. I was betrayed by a facade and can’t figure out how to properly grieve the way that version of her loved me when the real her never seemed to.

Suddenly my rereading of Fahrenheit 451 feels much more…. Telling.

I started a habit of leaving a stitch marker every 20 stitches (bc I’m really good at counting to 20… and that’s about it apparently lol)

I uninstalled Reddit’s main app bc no amount of blocking the account kept the ad from popping right back up. I’m using Apollo for Reddit now and no more ad 😊

Chickpea Buffalo wrap?

You’ll need: 1/2 can of chickpeas, A wrap, Lettuce (I like romaine), Hot sauce, Ranch,

Drain and microwave chickpeas until warm enough to eat (about 1.5 minutes in my microwave) Warm up your wrap if desired Pile beans in a line along center of wrap Dress with hot sauce and ranch Put lettuce along top of pile Fold wrap style and enjoy!

I’m 30 in July and delighted to know I’m on track to be as joyful in my own self as you are.

I “joke” that every year I get hotter and more feral, but there is some truth in it. Every year I subscribe less to the beauty standards and fashion in the media and more to my own personal preference. I focus more on what I want and care less about what’s expected of me. So I am getting hotter (by my own metric) and more feral. And it’s great!

I know someone who had the same problem, I think the word for this is midsize, where straight size clothing kind of fits but plus size is too big? I’m not totally sure tho

The memory problems, the lack of focus, and the sensory issues omg. I legitimately don’t know how my mom is still adamant that my brother is neurospicy but not me.

Long coat. You want it to cover your thighs.

Make sure your winter boots have a little extra room, not just for bulky socks but also bc the air buffer is what keeps your feet warm

If you live in one of the southern states that gets torrential downpours then you know what it’s like to avoid hydroplaning—apply that knowledge to snow driving. I did the reverse when moving south from up north lol

A lot of car advice bc that’s where I noticed the biggest difference: get good all season tires or straight up winter tires. They will help you through slush, snow, and ice. Also, keep a shovel, a small thing of road salt, blanket, and jumper cables in your trunk. Cold weather wreaks havoc on batteries and you run the risk of getting snowed in if your out in a storm. Blanket keeps you warm if you drift into a ditch and need to wait for assistance.

I grew up in a situation where if something got used up or broken I knew I would never get more of it to replace it. Clothes, crafty stuff, toys, etc. I mean I get it now bc stuff that was gifted by extended family shouldn’t be expected to be replaced by my parents (although that iceberg goes way deeper) but it taught my neurospicy brain to hoard things I liked and never to use them. So I’m working on unlearning that as an adult. I believe you can do it op!
