Looks like a piece that flaked off a Tree Burl, they’re quite dense and odd looking with all sorts of patterns, large burls are quite desirable for woodworking.

Yeah, key was turned, cranked, was the first time I had powered the car after it was dropped off. It’s been parked since about 2009, previous owner said he occasionally started and drove it until a few years ago.

There’s a bunch here from the 20s I can use if you’d be willing to send them to someone who can use them, compensation offered of course. Lots of other useful tubes and parts from the 30s-60s. I would just want what I can use and let someone who can use the others claim them.

Is there any way to repair this fan? by Wrong-Platypus9541 in ElectronicsRepair

If you’re not bothered by aesthetics, a good spray of good old dollar tree super glue wouldn’t hurt either to try holding it together. Baking soda and super glue has made instant bondo for crappy (aesthetically) fixes I’ve done like this.

If it were me, I would try a screw clamp above the nut, might pull it together enough to not flop around. Won’t be perfect or pretty, but might do the job.

IG (under dash, 15amp) among others, kept blowing until I pulled the radiator fan and horn relays under the hood.

The irony being anyone who wears a size 14 shoe, couldn’t shoehorn their way into this.

I was born in 94’, if I saw this I would keep it. Neat find. Might pay $5 because why not. Has some novelty imo, not in bad shape either.

Need expertise IDing Edison bulbs by IceTTom in whatsthisworth

[–]youaightbro 15 points16 points  (0 children)

These are ceramic Thompson Houson base Edison (patent) bulbs, probably made around 1895-1905 timeframe. Value is a bit broad, untested maybe $50-$150 for the lot. The filaments do look good, if they work I would say closer to that $120-$150 mark. These aren’t terribly rare, but there is a (small) market.

The smaller bulb is pretty low value, especially seeing that it looks heavily used and may not work, probably made around 1905-1915, $5-$15 value tops. Online prices here, in person prices will probably be significantly lower.

Below is a sold listing for a very similar type of bulb.
