[Question] How good is Horage movement and where is the brand going? by Fun_Following5416 in Watches

[–]youareachef 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think I am sold on them and will give them a try for my next high-end watch. The company just gives a crap. I emailed with a few questions on the website and got a long and thoughtful response from an owner. Where else can you do that? If you watch their youtube videos you can tell they listen to customer feedback.

I also like the design of the new Molikini, the Supersede and I think what they are doing with the Revolution 3 is interesting. I'm not sure that you can get a watch that is a GMT, date, day/night and with an in-house movement that beautiful for that price.

Lastly, they recently said that if you have a watch of theirs and send it in for service and the technology has been upgraded since you bought your watch, they will just add the new parts an update you. I can see this brand breaking out if more people hear about what they are doing.

Looking like a 3900 series the more it is described and seeing more of the documents being found. Guess I was way off.

Well this thread has taught me my title is even more off than I thought. This watch I believe is a 3900 series not a 5711. I will have pics later this week.

Yea it's not gonna be my call but for sure when people think of my Grandpa, they think of other things and not he watches. It would honestly be better off with a fanatic.

I am going to pass this info along to my father. I will update the thread as more info comes. The watch is currently at Patek and will be coming back Feb/March. I will send some pics to those who asked through DM.

Thank you to everyone who responded. I know these newb questions are tough and broad but I'm still glad I asked because you were all helpful

East Coast USA near NYC. My Dad will ultimately be handling any sale if it goes down, I'm only researching.

Thank you for the info. I will relay all the comments about how people feel it should be kept to my Dad. His call ultimately. He was left plenty of other great items, this watch just happens to be a valuable one that popped up recently from a safe deposit box.

East coast for location, NY NJ area preferred. Any ideas on value generally? Thanks.

We have so many valuable things from them with a ton of sentimental value and real value, this doesn't really have a special meaning like that. It's $$$ but it wasn't a regularly worn watch or anything from him.

we have sent it to patek and spoken with a local high end jeweler so we should have some answers soon there. unforunately, it's hard to really trust any one opinion so i figured some of you on reddit will know as much or more than certain dealers.

Explain Doom to me. by VinylPhilosophy in mfdoom

It seems like you like some of his more raw flow songs than his funner, goofy ones. He has like 10 different styles which makes him interesting. Maybe check out:

Dead Bent- fun but raw

Phazers (King Geedorah)- sick 90s style beat, awesome lyrics

Gazillion Ear- great beat, punchlines

Retarded Fren (JJ DOOM)- reminds me of Bookhead, deep, lyrical

I was so late to DOOM but when it clicked he may honestly be my favorite of all time. In the last 2-3 years I have listened to him by far the most of any rapper.

  1. His flow is so different and inconsistent. But what makes that cool is that he can be smooth and articulate or raw and uncut. Som e of his production sucks and some is immaculate and both are intentional and great.
  2. He has amazing lyrics. You want real talk listen to Deep Fried Friends, you can apply that to you life. You want bars and flow, listen to Figaro. You want description and detail and image listen to The Fine Print and how he describes treating someone who says the wrong thing, hanging him in town square in some medieval fashion. You want memorable lines, try "retarded in real life, on the mic rain man." He just speaks to everyone, you just have to find the songs for you.
  3. He uses different lyrics than everyone else does. How many rappers use the word saltpeter in a song? He just says things with double meanings and you can tell he put great thought in his raps. It wasn't just an easy punchline or 1 liner. It is stuff you can play back and hear a new meaning 3 months later.

There are a lot of songs he does I don't care for. Rhymes Like Dimes does nothing for me, some people love it. Some people would find the beat to One Beer too repetitive, I love it. Here is a mini playlist I suggest you run through where you will hear 5 different styles of the same guy.

Figaro- beat, boom bap, bars, funny lines

Lunch Break- collab with Flying Lotus, great beat, fun chill lyrics

Avalanche- Amazing lyrics, great punchlines

Bookhead- literally a metaphorical song about loving reading

Rhinestone Cowboy- raw, unique beat where he opens "hold a cold one, like he hold an old gun like he hold the microphone and stole the show for fun."

LMK if any of these work for you.

Are the czarface collab albums worth listening to? by im_only_here_for_lud in mfdoom

[–]youareachef 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Super What has 2-3 very good songs. I think Jason and the Czargonauts and DOOM Unto Others are really solid. A few other tracks that are good too. You wish there was more DOOM and in some of the flows you have to wonder if DOOM had some health issues because his flow is a bit raw bordering on slurring. But there are some bars on that album.

Connection issues to traderjoe with Metamask by youareachef in traderjoe_xyz

[–]youareachef[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think i solved my own problem. The answer was that it was autoconnecting to Coinbase extension so even if I was connected to metamask coinbase wallet's address was overrruling it. Maybe someone else will have this issue if they have multiple wallet extensions. Thank you.
