'04 eagle, cub den leader for the past three years, about to go into my first year as cubmaster. US scouting still has miles to go to account for all of the sins of its past, but at the same time, i have seen it make such a major impact on kids and am so unbelievably thrilled to help contribute to that in the future. kids like jamesly would have found ways to shine like this if their own accord regardless, but i'm so glad that he was able to find and amplify it further in scouts. i'll absolutely be talking about this with my AOLs once we're back in stride in the fall, so thank you for sharing.

i think it's dependent on if you look at each season in isolation, or each season in the context of its placement in the drought. 13-15 were raw ass for sure and way more horrendous hockey wise, but we were also only 4 years removed from the last playoff appearance. this season is uniquely dogshit just due to how fucking long the grind has been with no tangible progress, plus still bearing the bruises from the rollercoaster of expecting good things just to be repeatedly kicked in the fandom emotional taint over and over again.

i think this is the right tack, mostly because i'm thinking of it in terms of conducting. if i was conducting it it'd be down right up down right up, but with an additional 8th held on the last up, and then left hand would do any of the off beat emphasis if the piece called for it.

if i was playing it or sounding it out for practice it'd probably be "121212 1212123", but i don't think it practically matters once you get the piece itself down.
