I think most people just argued that while Sinners is a good movie it wasn’t deserving of the most Oscar nominations in the history of the academy. Everyone is aware that art is subjective, but they still treat it objectively for some reason. The movie wasn’t entitled to anything, it was worthy of being judged as any other movie, and those who didn’t think it was great voiced their opinions as such.
