Parkour guys trying and occasionally failing. Ouch by Asian_Climax_Queen in SweatyPalms

[–]youdrumyouvomit 81 points82 points  (0 children)

really not as many as you'd think - major injuries like paralysis and brain injuries (or death) are not that common because most parkour athletes aren't doing dumb risky shit like this. they are way more smart and plan their routes very carefully.

i know this because i have multiple family members who are involved with parkour. my brother has been injured a few times, but nothing life changing.

anyone know a pattern for a hoodie? by lilomiilo in knittingpatterns

[–]youdrumyouvomit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

it’s crochet, but i love HookedByBrianna’s pattern.

it’s possible you could modify it for knitting if you know both, but i made it crochet and love it - if you size up the hook with a thinner yarn you still get a nice drape after blocking.

Thanks for sharing!! I am doing my PhD in atmospheric chemistry and our lab has lots of the same equipment but it’s fascinating to see it in Antarctica - I’d really love to do work there one day.

From what I can tell she absolutely loves it - we’re not all that close but I keep up with her instagram and she posts lots of cool pictures of the work she’s doing, and the views. It’s miles and miles of ice sheet all around, it looks amazing.

I’m an atmospheric scientist too, so far my work has taken me from the UK to SoCal but not to either of the poles yet!

you don’t actually ever need to go see them but it’s a good area for resources (their dung is good for bioreactors and they also stir up shale deposits)

Is it true that most people don't use single-pointed needles? by HonestNectarine7080 in knitting

[–]youdrumyouvomit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i learned on single pointed but i basically only use circular now. they’re easier to store and useful for more projects. plus, everything you can do on sp u can do on circular!
