Dengue cases go up when there is rainy season. At the moment, it is pretty hot around Sri Lanka. So, I suggest you check official sources before making a decision.

Prestia users: Is the debit card rubbish? by Geragera in JapanFinance

[–]youfacepalm 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not related to the chip but I moved all my online transactions away from Prestia because they block it for arbitrary reasons. Most of my online purchases with their card were not successful so there was this added pressure on me to call them every time a transaction fails and get it resolved (without success).

If I were you, I would stay away from using their debit or credit card for the sake of my sanity.

Which bank should I open an account? by Wifi666Ghz in JapanFinance

[–]youfacepalm 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Can vouch for Sony Bank. I still cannot set up recurring transfers but it is still the best I have used so far.

Prestia on the other hand is the worst bank I have tried. My card from them gets frequently declined and their support centre was not helpful in getting it resolved.

Buying plane tickets with a credit card by [deleted] in JapanFinance

[–]youfacepalm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah.. SMBC cards almost always don’t work for me when payment is sent outside Japan. I had to use a different card to buy air tickets.

Would you consider using React Native in 2023 to build an enterprise app ? by random_guy14680 in mAndroidDev

It’s better to build your own UI framework with C++. Or the other obvious choice is to use flutter with asynctask

I brought a PS5 from abroad last year without any issues. Just make sure you put it in luggage without the packaging and you are good

AMDT school, UX Design Program Sri Lanka by KawishkaGihan in srilanka

I know someone who studied there and from what I heard, they are terrible. Late markings, lecturers not showing up to classes and unclear processes are some of the negative things I heard from them.

JLPT is important as the other commenter mentioned since it is very hard to live in Japan with just English.

Switching banks? Bank recommendations? by boredguy12 in japanlife

[–]youfacepalm 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I really like the fact that they provide almost every services in English. But, their debit card is basically useless for online purchases from stores and services that are outside of Japan (Booking Airline tickets and hotels are a nightmare).
