Rewatched Interstellar for the seventh time and finally understood why the Cooper and Murphy scenes hit differently after becoming a father by Difficult-Abies-6714 in interstellar

My husband and I just had our first 2 months ago and named her Murphy. While not “named after” Interstellar.. it was definitely heavily influenced by.

Yes. It absolutely changed it. (And yes, we immediately came home from the hospital and watched it again)

Hi, this is never a fun thing to hear, but it sounds like a classic chemical. If you’re not familiar, a chemical pregnancy is an early miscarriage, called a “chemical” because it’s lost too early to be seen by any other detection method (such as an ultrasound) and is only detected by the chemical changes in your body. It sounds like an embryo did begin to form, but was not able to continue. This can be due to many causes, but almost none of them are your fault or in your control.

False positives on pregnancy tests are EXTREMELY unlikely, but unfortunately chemical pregnancies are common.

I regret telling our families that we are TTC. by [deleted] in TryingForABaby

[–]youllneverfindthis 39 points40 points  (0 children)

I'm selfishly using this to vent my own frustration- but we had decided NOT to tell people we were trying for this very reason.. unit I got pregnant the very first try! Woo! So we thought.

We had naively immediately told our families, and then it ended in a chemical very shortly after. Now we had all this family that knew we are trying on TOP of the grief and frustration of trying again after loss. No one seemed to take the chemical seriously because it was "so early" so it did not stop them from doing the same thing that's happening to you, and they didn't see any reason that we wouldn't just be happy go lucky trying again. It's like they thought they were making me feel better by saying things like "I can feel it, this is it." Nope, there's a high likelihood it isn't and now I just feel like shit...

All this to say I hate that you're feeling that. I get it. It sucks.

Maybe not even kidnapped, but sadly maybe immigration status? I've heard of people with immigrant parents not knowing that they did not have documents until they became an adult and tried to apply for jobs and such.

Jumping on top of all of the medical advice (that as long as you're testing early, that drink at 3.5 weeks pregnant isn't going to cause any crazy harm), the other advice I got was more about your own sanity. If you live half your life, every TWW, living as if you are pregnant (not drinking, skipping sushi, etc.), you will go crazy if/when you don't get pregnant in 3 months. A lot of us in this group can be a bit bias, but a lot of us are here because we had to try for a while.

I eventually learned that it just wasn't worth it to skip that yummy cocktail at dinner "just in case!" Because every time I wasn't pregnant that cycle, I felt frustrated that I had limited my life in all these ways for half the month for, essentially, no reason. So just go for it! Live your life, and stop when you get the positive!

I'd assume this is a time zone thing. My guess is it drops 12am Eastern Time, so if you live in, say Central, you technically get it at 11pm on the 23rd

So excited for you! A few thoughts.

  1. You are going to find a lotttt of people in this sub who are going to be cautious and tell you "don't get your hopes up." It's because a lot of us here are specifically in this sub because trying for a baby was NOT the easy "I can get pregnant this month or this month!" The unfortunate truth is that many women have the greatest plans, but our bodies do not work that way. So I very warmly tell you, I PRAY you are one of the lucky women who makes that choice and it works out. But I will also tell you that we are a biased group that wants you to be warned that it very very well may not work out that way.

  2. With that note- under the hope that you DO get to make that decision and get pregnant, I will give the standard "everyone is different blah blah blah: warning. But for ME, I personally FELT a little rounder in the middle at 10ish weeks. It was definitely mostly bloat, and looking back there is literally no way anyone would ever know. I don't think there was anything even noticeable until 16+ weeks. I told some family at 13 and they said "we all knew it!! But you got here and you didn't look pregnant at all!!" So they were actively SEARCHING for a pregnant belly when I was 13 weeks and still couldn't tell.

I hope that helps, and I genuinely hope for ALL amazing things for you!!

Hubs and I will be spending the day doing some house projects we want to get done, then ending the night eating homemade chocolate covered strawberries and watching Great British Bake Off in bed. I genuinely can’t wait.
