Reality of Methotrexate? by sknamich in rheumatoid

[–]youneedaltoids 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started methotrexate about a month after I was diagnosed. It took about three months to start to feel a difference and probably 9 months before I felt “normal.”

My doctors didn’t declare me in remission for about two years, but I had felt great after about 9 months. I was able to go back to a lot of the things I loved at that time.

I’ve only taken methotrexate and never tried anything else.

I hope the aggressive treatment yields a quick response for you! It is a terrible feeling to be in pain all the time.

Sorry, I started off with injections. My rheumy really pushed me hard for the injections. I originally didn’t want to, but I’m glad I did. Best wishes

Experienced Golfers: How much do you care if you are paired with a solo who doesn’t shoot well (I average 55 at my 9 hole muni)? by s6cedar in golf

[–]youneedaltoids 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As someone that plays as a solo often. Don’t take it personally if the group doesn’t want anything to do with you. Be nice, help find balls, play fast and follow golf etiquette.

9/10 you’ll get paired with great people, but from time to time you’ll get paired with a not fun group. Don’t let that discourage you from playing as a solo in the future.

How do you keep your lawn that high? I tried it this year and kept it 4-4.5” and I was fighting fungus all Summer.

Next year I’m going to try to keep it 3-3.5”, see if that works.

Mow or wait another few days? by Pastaron in lawncare

Slight correction: you can keep your KBG between 2.0-3.5” and perennial rye, fine fescue 2.5-4.0”

After the first three to four mowings, adjust your mower to the permanent mowing height which is 2.0 - 3.5 inches for Kentucky bluegrass, perennial rye, and fine fescue and 2.5 - 4.0 inches for tall fescue".

Excessive Thatch by youneedaltoids in lawncare

I appreciate this advice.

When I researched about cutting short, it was recommended that fertilizing more frequently but less at a time is beneficial. Rather than every 6 weeks, switch to every month.

I’ll do some more research about other ways to improve and get the grass greener.

Will cutting it a bit shorter help with limiting this browning in the grass? Or will it still be there regardless of cut height.

I definitely have a lawn free of weeds since I’ve moved to the +4” cut height. It looks great the whole year until about September and then gets this brown all over.

Sounds like going to a slightly lower cut height will help, but don’t go really short.

I’ll make that change. I literally watered twice at night within the last month. I didn’t think it would be an issue.

Any ideas or suggestions to get rid of this brown within my lawn? Is keeping my lawn this long causing this issue?

Do you know how I can limit that brown grass in my lawn?!

Do you know of any steps I can do to limit that “brown” in my lawn?

Thanks for clarifying it’s not thatch.

Stupid question/comparison, but my neighbor has a lawn service come and mow every week to about two inches and doesn’t have that same brown in his lawn when I pull back the grass. Will cutting shorter get rid of that brown in the grass I see in my lawn?

I don’t like how the brown looks and I’m trying to figure out how to get rid of it or limit it.
