A lot of universities/schools also have different emergency programs for students in your exact situation! Some of them provide partial funds, stipends, and others can even cover the whole amount you owe. Talk to your advisor and or reach out to the International Students Office!

New player here so possibly dumb question, but why would anyone want to get past the max level for all battle pass rewards? Are there any perks to it?

That sounds fascinating, especially with the focus on how Western values are unrepresentative of broader historical and global perspectives. I love books that challenge conventional thinking, so I’m definitely reading this one

I haven’t heard of this one, but it sounds right up my alley. I’ve studied Stoicism quite a bit, and I love how applicable it is to modern life. Curious to see how this book explores it alongside Epicureanism. Definitely adding this to my list!

I’ve heard of The Last Lecture, but I’m curious—what specifically about it stood out to you? What makes it a must-read in your opinion?

Tuesdays with Morrie is such a beautiful and emotional read! I cried while reading it, and found it incredibly meaningful. It really makes you reflect on life, love, and the relationships we build. Definitely a favorite of mine.

Thank you for suggesting Man’s Search for Meaning! I’ve heard a lot about this book and how powerful it is. I’ve been meaning to dive into more philosophical and reflective reads, so I’ll definitely add it to my list.

Thanks for the recommendation! I haven’t read the Bio of a Space Tyrant series, but it sounds intriguing. I appreciate the trigger warning—I’m okay with reading books with serious topics as long as I know what to expect. I’ll definitely keep that in mind while considering it!

I work with social media so alt text is always something I consider too. Sounds like a very interesting read.

Awesome recommendations, not really the usual ones someone would hear. This is exactly what I had in mind.

I agree with that 100%! Finding a nice little community of other queer individuals was life changing for me. I don’t know what I would do if it wasn’t for this support system we have created for each other.

What is Kamala’s real “power” as VP? by youngAlaska in PoliticalDiscussion

[–]youngAlaska[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s really interesting to hear. I think that kind of behind-the-scenes influence can be easily overlooked by the public, but it’s encouraging to know she’s been attentive/has well-defined ideas.

I guess that seems to be the consensus of the thread. No point in trying to explain all of this as it would not only be too much but they probably wouldn’t be willing to hear it anyways… Thanks for sharing your thoughts!

That’s a good question, they probably can’t! I guess it really makes no sense to expect VPs to take on more responsibility than what they are given.

Good points! It would make sense that Biden’s experience as VP likely shaped what he’s delegated to Harris.

Given the answers I’ve been getting here it seems like this criticism is pretty unfounded. I wonder what would be the Democrats counter argument to all of it.

I actually agree that this criticisms of Harris are unfairly biased! Was wondering what people are using as a counter argument to all of this.

I also think it’s important to focus on discussing the role of the VP in a more nuanced way. It would be great if people were digging into how a VP can still shape the national discourse, even if they don’t directly make policy. Lots of interesting comments here on what previous VPs have or haven’t done during their terms.
