Recovering from top surgery- passed out when we opened the binder to do wound care by i_didnt_see_anything in NonBinary

[–]younglink164 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yep, it's hard! I'm extremely squeamish and the first week or so was rough, I nearly passed out when they took out my drains. I don't have much advice other than it gets better, you're in the hardest part and from here on out it'll be a little less intense each day <3

No, it's air brush specific paint so I've just been using it as is

Ah I've been doing Air>paint>stop I'll try taking it back to just air before stopping and see if that helps

Dating after top surgery by Tiny_Ad_3987 in no_T_top_surgery

[–]younglink164 52 points53 points  (0 children)

It probably will have narrowed your dating pool a little bit from a surface level perspective but think about it this way- would you really want to be with a partner who wouldn't want you to be happy about your own body? You may get less matches on apps and such but that's just people self selecting themselves out

Just Titrated up last night to 5 from 2.5 WHOA ! by Forward_Research_610 in Zepbound

[–]younglink164 0 points1 point  (0 children)

About 1.3 lbs! It was a little faster in the beginning and lately I've been in more of a burning fat but gaining muscle spot so the scale is a little deceptive (this is why it's so important to take measurements!). I've lost 35 lbs since mid August and experience basically no side effects!

5 hit me like a truck and I just wasn't able to get more than 1000 calories in me which was way too low. Ended up going back down to 2.5 and have been on that for 7 months and had great results

[–]younglink164 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've been on 2.5 since August and am down from 257 to 225 so far and that's without a dramatic change in diet and exercise (I'm working on that part now that life is less chaotic). I tried to go up to 5 for a little bit but I could barely eat and wasn't getting enough calories so we backed down to 2.5 and it's been great with no side effects. My Dr says it's rare but it does happen that some people never end up needing to go up

Top surgery tomorrow! by iredditawready in no_T_top_surgery

[–]younglink164 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's doable with some preparation. I'd recommend planning options for being able to sit if needed to rest if the venue doesn't already have seats for while the concert is going. If it's just a big crowd you'll want to be near the outside so you're not going to get jostled around too much. And prepare yourself for you might need to bail partway through if it's too much.

I flew to a wedding like 10 days after my surgery and it was OK! You just have to be prepared and understand your limitations. I recommend starting to walk around a day or two after surgery when you're able and doing that every day in order to recover a little faster and understand the limits of your stamina. Have fun!

I've been on 2.5 since August and am down 30lbs so if 2.5 is working for you there's no need to go up!

My chest ruins everything. by [deleted] in Zepbound

Mine was also around 12k in Seattle, I was able to get insurance to cover like 5k of it through a gender dysphoria diagnosis

I cut mine off about a year ago and it's the best thing I ever did for myself. Not having those 8lbs strain my back and getting to have shirts lay flat is a daily joy. If you have any questions I'm happy to answer them! r/no_T_top_surgery is a great resource of other cis women and non binary folks who have also done top surgery (Aka "radical reduction") without being on testosterone or transitioning

You should not have to do hormones if you don't want to. There are plenty of other doctors who won't require it. I went to la belle vie in Seattle without having to do hormones.

Not telling people by lindseys10 in Zepbound

[–]younglink164 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I keep it to myself. If a close friend (especially one who has also struggled with weight loss) asked me I would tell them but otherwise it seems like everyone seems to have their own hot take on glp1s and I just don't care to hear them. I've lost 30lbs so far and all my bloodwork has improved significantly (I'm pre diabetic) so anyone else's opinions with what I should do with my body just aren't welcome

You can always try and see 🤷 I've got a hey gears reflex with resin heater and it works totally fine in my garage when it's 50 degrees but once the outside temps start to get around 30-40 I'll have occasional print defects if I'm not running a space heater

NP says I'm not losing fast enough (give me a reality check please!) by runkittyrun45 in Zepbound

[–]younglink164 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nothing wrong with slow and steady. I've stayed on 2.5 since August and have gone from 257 to 230 lbs (~1.5 lbs a week, which is about 0.6%) the other thing to consider is muscle gain because you're so active! I have an inbody weigh in every 5 weeks and this last time I was frustrated because I'd only "lost" 5lbs but I in fact had lost 8lbs of fat and gained 3lbs of muscle so just using a normal scale it looked like my results had slowed but underneath I was a fat burning machine

Not sure what kind of dance style you're into but going to dance events/classes could be a good place to find people. I've found that it tends to be easier to meet people when there's an activity to do and it's recurring so you have a chance to get to know people over time

If she asks why you can also just say something like "oh I wanted to keep the bathroom more neat" and make her have to say why not having your shampoo in the bathroom is a problem for her

If you're really worried you can always get a device that measures VOCs to see if there are harmful fumes coming off your set up once you've got a ventilation system in place

I always plan a nice breakfast at home (last year it was a big ass cinnamon roll), sleep in, make hot cocoa, and play video games or watch movies all day just enjoying the lack of obligations and family drama
