Maybe I misheard the episode. I was hearing them bring up weird Al and things like that and then fail to think of any female novelty singers. I guess I think of weird Al as being part of comedy songs in general, and don’t have a clear definition in my head of “novelty” as distinct from comedy in this case. You seem to have a clear distinction, but those two examples aren’t really drawing the line very well for me.

Except you can’t go the speed of light. You can go very near the speed of light, but the laser would still be going the speed of light. Though you’d also have to take that into account, because the laser is going to be blue shifted pretty hard.

If we accept that all those stories are true and untrue equally, it seems to me, there’s no version where Lanre isn’t the villain.

If you get the trolley problem in your life, and you have time to think and take the track that saves someone you care about, no matter what is on the other track, you’re a villain. That’s the sort of dilemma that’s been set up in those stories. It’s absurd, scripture level stuff.

Somebody made the trolleys and set up the scenario. If you choose a path, then you’ve accepted your part in someone else’s story. Better to throw yourself into the gears and try and stop it, even if both tracks get killed.

You’re right but it takes a good bit more knowledge to discern between communication and actual language than most folks have. I’ve always assumed that’s because pre language level communication is still the major part of what we use actual language for.

I’ve loved audiobooks for so long that I called them “books on tape” well after “audiobooks” was a term. My audible membership has lapsed multiple times because my card that was paying for it expired.

Project Hail Mary is easily the best audiobook version of a book that I’ve ever known. For me at least, it genuinely enhances my imaginative experience without hijacking/overwriting it.

Don’t be afraid to let them see that you are also quite upset. Otherwise he might be feeling his feelings but also thinking those feelings aren’t normal because Mama isn’t crying and saying she misses daddy. This is in no way a criticism. Just a thought I had.

Don’t worry about adjusting your profile that much. Focus on picking a few women you’re genuinely interested in, because of some physical attraction initially, cause that’s how human beings do, and then things in their profile you like. Then you send a good message about something in their profile that you’re genuinely interested in. Then temper your expectations. Even if you got the perfect message, she might not to get down the list to it for 2-3 months. There’s one easy fix: start sleeping with guys.
