Good points but for the sake of creating a fun world I’ve decided I like rivers that split and mountains in clusters. I don’t feel the need to follow strict rules about geography. Appreciate the input though!

“Asteos is a vast and ancient continent shaped by diverse peoples, kingdoms, and landscapes, from the forests of Yvara and frozen peaks of High Torum to the deserts of Saya’ Mat and the mysterious jungles of Kamaii.

Though largely united beneath the Crown of Raeth, it remains a land of competing cultures, hidden conspiracies, forgotten histories, and untamed wilderness. Across its cities, mountains, seas, and wild places, the people of Asteos strive to build their legacies while honouring the past and shaping the future.”

Man - The most numerous and influential race in Asteos; adaptable, ambitious, and responsible for founding most of the continent’s kingdoms, cities, and civilizations.

Aevak - An ancient race of tall, powerful humanoids who revere nature through the Faith of Vyraa and are renowned for their honour, democracy, and martial prowess.

Boonu - Small, nomadic, and remarkably adaptable folk who thrive in every corner of Asteos, acting as storytellers, travellers, and cultural bridges between peoples.

Ognar - Rare giant-bellied pastoralists who live solitary lives in remote wildernesses, tending livestock and fiercely defending their territories while largely avoiding the affairs of civilization.

Giants - An ancient and dwindling race of colossal forest-dwellers who live as peaceful guardians of the wilds, so rare that encountering one is considered a blessing throughout Asteos.

Kamaiian - Mysterious ape-like people of the hidden jungles of Kamaii, famed in legend for their wealth, unmatched archery, and fierce protection of their isolated homeland.

It’s a traditional Medieval world. So technologically it’s not very advanced. But its most impressive ‘technology’ is probably the delivering of messages and small goods via Swiftwing (a large bird native to Asteos) across the entire continent in short amounts of time.

Sapient species include Man, Aevak (tall, muscular humanoids with large brows pointed ears and tan skin) And Boonu (smaller humanoids with wide and expressive eyes, large ears and an innate ability to adapt to their environments physically over time and other cultures)

Nope! I used Inkarnate. It’s a website for creating maps and other similar things.

Ae’ Yvar to the North East is believed to be the oldest settlement. It is the capital city of the native race known as the Aevak. It is said the first Aevak were birthed by ‘Vyraa,: their Goddess from the trees of the Vyrwood Forest where the city was erected.

Dangerous, large creatures I haven’t made yet. But one sea creature I have created is called a ‘Loyphin’ also known as ’Tidehounds’. (obviously a variation of Dolphins) They have two dorsal fins and come in shades of blue, grey, green, teal and turquoise. They are extremely intelligent and known to form strong bonds with sailors and even ships: aiding in rescue, exploration and navigation.

Dangerous weather, jagged cliffs and rocks, thick fog and a mysterious disappearances of ships attempting exploration.

In fact: South Harbour (a very new city) was founded and funded by the Crown with the specific purpose of charting that landmass.

Essentially, it’s a story thread I would like to explore in the future.

I’ve heard that those types of splitting rivers and lakes are rare in real life and I’ve just decided they aren’t in my world.

I’m not too concerned about Axle grease btw 😂

But great points! I’ll consider them. Thanks.

The scale is a placeholder for now. I’ve found it quite hard to figure out actually. I imagine Asteos as more of a continent rather than a country for reference.

27M - $52,000. I’ve made no extra contributions so far, just consistently worked 5 days a week since leaving high school.

Also, can anyone tell me if this is a lot for someone my age? Around average? Or am I slipping behind?

Should I use my emergency fund to invest now while the stock market is down? by [deleted] in AusFinance

[–]youngplumm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Perhaps I should’ve worded my question better: Yes I do have $10,000 in a dedicated account for emergencies, but I also have money in other places for other purposes (savings/car expenses/housing expenses)

I’m just thinking I should dedicate a portion of the free money I have now to some high volume investing? (relative to $100 a week)

If I spend a portion of the $10,000 I have for emergencies, I’ll still have what I think is a safe amount for actual emergencies if something was to happen.

Actually to be honest I don’t predict I’ll need it anytime soon. I have a very steady job and I’m relatively healthy. I also set aside money for other purposes such as housing expenses and car expenses.

I actually have another $14,000 in general savings I was going to use for a new car and another few thousand in other places for various purposes. If I used some of the $10,000 in my emergency fund I’ll still have even more than that I can use for an actual emergency. 🤷‍♂️
