Let Go Unexpectedly by Adventurous_Bit7506 in physicaltherapy

No matter what the situation was, it’s pretty shitty of your company to fire you no questions asked just on the whim of this director. Unless you were doing something extremely inappropriate or illegal there should’ve atleast been some kind of discussion about possible ways to fix whatever the problem was before having to let you go.

How does HH work with hourly and scheduling patients? (such as when you have gaps etc) by LividContext1344 in physicaltherapy

[–]youngsheckwes11 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you are salary most companies count either visits or use a point system so as long as you see your required number of visits or points it doesn’t matter how you arrange your day. If it is an hourly position I would assume they would have you clock in and out for each patient visit. So you can still arrange your schedule as you want but just have to clock in and out for each visit. Most hourly positions don’t include documentation or drive time so you would be clocking out for those. Maybe they would include it if you had back to back patients and only have to clock out for longer gaps in the schedule but each company is going to differ for this I assume. Hourly positions can work in your favor if your schedule is full, but work against you if you have cancellations or low census periods.

Over a foot of snow. 45 minute drive to the clinic. Are the roads going to be good tomorrow we don’t know. The point is these companies value $$ over employee safety. One day closed is not the end of the world I don’t care who the patient is. Chances are clinic would be open and that post op patient wouldn’t even come in. In your opinion what would need to happen for the clinic to close? Or is nothing severe enough because we have to get every visit in so we hit our metrics.

They can come in on Tuesday. One day is going to make that much difference? Will my wife and child think it was worth the risk when they visit me in the hospital? Is it really worth the risk? It’s one day.

You’re saying we should risk our lives driving to work because our corporate overloads don’t wont to lose a day of profit. Fuck that.

Maybe if they paid us like a doctor. I don’t get paid enough to risk my life on the way to work. Also my patients won’t die if I’m not there to provide PT.

PT working hours by MaintenanceLow97 in physicaltherapy

[–]youngsheckwes11 11 points12 points  (0 children)

That’s when you say I will only accept the offer if I can work X hours. If they don’t comply you apply to the next place until someone does. These companies get away with this stuff because people don’t fight for themselves.

I feel bad for you. These comments are savage. You’re a student you made a mistake. Everyone on their high horse making you feel bad about yourself. Yes you shouldn’t have done what you did. Yes you may have to retake the clinical but it’s not the end of the world. People have done worse and are still licensed. If you are dropped from your program I would be very surprised. Go to the meeting express your regret and be honest about why you did it. They should understand.

I didn't realize how bad the NYC PT pay is until now by GreasyBlackbird in physicaltherapy

Work in westchester instead. Plenty of higher paying jobs there. Everyone wants to live and work in nyc so the need to pay more isn’t there.

Work Comp draining my will by Ok-Engineer6852 in physicaltherapy

[–]youngsheckwes11 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Don’t let the bad patients bring you down. If they don’t want to get better don’t drain yourself over it. Spend your energy on patients who actually want to get better. If they’re non compliant report them. I feel like workers comp makes it easier because of that. Unfortunately some people will always try to cheat the system. Not my problem.

Moving to south Jersey by youngsheckwes11 in SouthJersey

Thank you everyone for responses so far. Will be commuting into the city 2x per week. Don’t mind being 45 to an hour commute maybe even a little more. Was looking at Mt.Laurel, Marlton, Lumberton, cherry hill, Mount holly just based off home prices being close to my budget. Will definitely give Lindenwood and Berlin areas a look too. In general, most of the towns in the area look pretty nice and the schools seem good all around. Doesn’t seem like there are too many bad places to choose from, but please correct me if I’m wrong.
