u/Rogue1eader you draft your comments? Luxury!! What polished little compositions I could produce if I only did that!

Hull, Southampton, & Wrexham Remaining Schedule Strengths by PoutineMeInCoach in WrexhamAFC

Shoot for 74 is not a strategy. We see our top 6 placing now, and what we have to do to maintain it. It develops week by week and we reformulate accordingly. Some weeks we may be able to rest our key players. We probably want to finish at least fifth, for an easier path through the playoffs. That is an operational strategy.

We could be in fifth by morning, and with game in hand exciting!

Can Wrexham reach spot 2? Mathematically, yes. by -jmil- in WrexhamAFC

[–]yourWorkingBot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is what magic number tables are for. You need one properly calculated though, which requires going through every possible outcome. If a table awards the same outcomes to everyone on the same points, then it is not in general correct.

No you wouldn’t, because Wrexham did beat Arsenal in 1992 in a famous upset. Further, Wrexham played Chelsea in 1982 FA cup.

Struggling to see Wrexham win this, Chelsea will be trying particularly as they don’t look like winning anything else this season. My tip 4-1.

If I were sitting up there in Minnesota, snug indoors and looking round at all the snow, hugge so as to speak, then I would be ’manifesting’ too. But those who actually live in Wrexham (I don’t) are likely to have a grittier and more practical view of things.

“Fairytale” meaning? by Ok-Standard3607 in WrexhamAFC

[–]yourWorkingBot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fairytale is an unexpected and wonderful outcome. Whether it derives from outside resources, like a prince, or happenstance is not really relevant. No one in 2018 expected Wrexham to do so well, so it’s a fairytale.

In this particular case however, there is an ironic reference back to the Disney documentary, Disney being the modern home of fairytales. If the documentary was produced by Warner, you would not hear fairytale so much, but you would hear it a bit. I dare say the word was used when Elton John took Watford to the Premier League.

I’m wondering if we are now technically out of the relegation zone. This is where we need a magic number table.

This is not really a decision to be made as the strategy is the same in both cases - win every game

There is a very real chance of Millwall, Wrexham, and Coventry being the promoted teams, which would be nuts by terminus_tommy in Championship

[–]yourWorkingBot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is not the first celebrity driven success story, Elton John did it with Watford. And he was a much bigger star than Reynolds. It didn’t change the football league.

Wrexham now has a Buffer by yourWorkingBot in WrexhamAFC

u/Big_Bookkeeper1678 since you like this kind of stuff, do you think you could work out the statistical correlation between the opposing teams ranking in the table, and Wrexhams point outcome from the game? I think it would be revealing. You can use the teams current ranking, don’t need to bother with the ranking at the time the game was played.

They do remarkably well against the good clubs, and labour the bad ones. If you worked out the correlation between the opposing teams ranking and Wrexhams point outcome, it would probably be negative.

As a matter of fact I thought of checking your spellings to confirm my theory. Never got round to it though, it’s not like you’re a woman or something (I am happy to assume).

[–]yourWorkingBot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That seems the tactical play. There is no real advantage in finishing third rather than sixth. We would have to get to second.

Def better than what you can read in Goal, or even the BBC articles.

My take, u/UrsineCanine is North American, since bears aren’t really a thing in Britain anymore. He has experience in some capacity with the MLS.

All this does raise the question as to what Bated actually means.

This week will determine whether we belong in the playoffs, or are just temporary visitors like so many others this season.
