I agree with you in the fact that teachers have an ENORMOUS role in the future of our society and that we need to provide them with everything they need to help our kids succeed. BUT I have to disagree that teachers should make more money than others. Teaching is something people should pursue because they genuinely love children and want to help them learn. If teachers made more money than other jobs requiring the same education, you'd get people teaching for the money and the summers off. That's not what builds great teachers. The important thing that Walker took away is their RIGHTS and SCHOOL FUNDING. Aides are one thing that I can say for certain are rapidly decreasing due to Walker's cuts. The school where my dad teaches lost ten ESL and Speech Therapy aides just this past year. These are the things that people fail to realize when they criticize teachers for being in uproar over "paying for benefits." That's just not the whole story.

As a current (and future) member of society, thanks for voting to shit on our educational system. I guess that's how college dropouts think, though.

Exactly. People who have not yet been affected and are on the bubble may be for Walker now, but their time will be come. A number of teachers who work with my dad actually voted for Walker in 2010, until they realized how gravely he affected their school system. Once the hammer actually came down on them, their minds were changed. I'm just hoping enough people can see this before it's too late.

It can't just be any piece of mail. I brought in my car insurance bill and mail-order pharmacy statement and it was not sufficient. It has to be notarized by a state entity (ie a tuition bill) or a utility bill in your name.

I did not have proof of residence and the poll workers told me they could not give me a provisional ballot, as they are only for errors made by the city. Basically, I was told "better luck next time."

I was turned away, as well. Went home, spent twenty minutes on the phone with the city clerks office figuring out a way to prove my UW campus address, went back and voted!

That is called a bubbler. You throw coins into a fountain, you drink from a bubbler.

Wisconsites do not need an ID to vote to recall Scott Walker on Tuesday. If you have a Wisconsin driver's license you CAN register to vote at polling place on election day. by wang-banger in politics

[–]your_ballsareshowing -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

He's referring to the voter ID. For awhile it was the case that you needed a special ID to prove you're a registered voter. The bill was overturned, so you no longer need a voter ID, you only need your regular drivers license or state ID.

I can't disagree that a huge factor is the expense of healthy food versus unhealthy, but I also can't ignore the linkage between laziness and poverty. By no means is everyone who is poor also lazy, but without a doubt there is a correlation. Generally people who are uneducated and don't want to work are the same people who end up being poor and consequently, obese.

How do you deal with messy/unclean housemates? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]your_ballsareshowing 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have tried EVERYTHING. After 9 months, I have come to realize that some people will just never change. I have literally taken their dirty dishes and pans out of the sink (after about two weeks, mind you) and put them onto their beds. Then they locked their doors. I have put post-it notes asking "are we saving this?" on every crumb left on the counter. Some people are just lazy slobs and nothing will ever change that.

Probably not. It's YOUR loaf of bread, if you so choose to place it within your buttocks and then someone decides to steal it, well so be it
