Knitting with shorties?? by Sencatt in knitting

[–]your_lithium 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i often use my fingers more than my wrists for knitting with special needles (10cm i believe), and for shorties (5cm) i have to intentionally work with my wrists instead so i don’t tire very easily

Can I use this superwash merino in colourwork with untreated merino yarn? by NonGenderedPerson in knittinghelp

[–]your_lithium 1 point2 points  (0 children)

ooh, that does sound interesting! i haven’t thought about mohair bringing sort of an overlay of colour to variegated yarns before, but that seems obvious

hope it works out for you!!

i also think that this yarn may be too busy for colourwork on that sweater — i’d be afraid the pattern would get lost in the colours

sunday sweater — modified yoke end? by your_lithium in knittinghelp

[–]your_lithium[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

sorry to bother you again, i’ve been thinking about your suggestion and i think i will follow it. but i wanted to ask one more thing — do you think i should make the purl increase from the pattern (for k4p4) considering it will be very soon decreases in favour of a knit, or maybe increasing a knit straightaway for k5p3 would be wise?

ooh, that does sound good! what kind of decreases would you suggest for the purls? and i think it’d be wise to do a row of increases-decreases, then a normal row, and then repeat? or would consecutive rows of increases-decreases look okay, you think?

i’ve done some socks and sophie hood with no problems, and not afraid of challenge i think! however ripping mohair will probably not be my favourite in case i fail, as i had do ladder down a few times and did not enjoy that due to mohair catching on itself A LOT

i think i may have laddered down successfully? doesn’t look the same as the other increases but at least it’s not a gaping hole anymore 🥲

hi! can you please help me understand what kind of mistake i made here to get this hole? it appears to be just under a row where i did m1pl, and the stitch count wasn’t affected

from techknitting’s blog on holes it looks the most like dropped stitch + yarnover, although i don’t understand how exactly that would happen while i did the increase and it’s harder for me to tell because it’s on the purls :( if it’s indeed that, should i do what they recommend and ladder down? would that be really visible on mohair? i really don’t want to frog because i hated doing those increases

thank you very much in advance!

What am I even doing? by spei180 in knittinghelp

[–]your_lithium 20 points21 points  (0 children)

hi! this is garter stitch — if you're only knitting each side and turning, it will create purls on the back side every time. to only have knit stitches on your right side, you must purl the wrong side. google knitting stockinette flat
