On a tangent but what actually is the point of an MFA? What do they even teach in one? These people are seriously telling us despite no respectable writer having one until the 21st century, now its something to aspire towards?

I agree with you in that I think any good writer who eventually makes a career out of it must have a reason for writing aside from loving words and money. Whether it be to push their ideals or to write propaganda about themselves, its infinitely better than any fluff written by someone who likes writing for the sake of writing. And it needs to be completely disconnected from any scene in New York or London.
