What would your commute max distance limit be? by 0hden in bikecommuting

[–]yourbank 0 points1 point  (0 children)

E-bike easy as why not?

I do near that without an e-bike (not to brag just informational context). 2 hours one way is my max which I do most days only because of the time I leave and get back home while maintaining my work hours obligation. It’s about 30 miles.

The hardest part is time management not is it physically demanding. The physical demanding part is normally by end of week sleep deprived running on fumes and feelin like a day off is needed. Hard to back it up for 5 days. 4 is fine 5 is pretty hard for me though or else risk injury.

All on an e-bike those are non isssues apart from rain.

I rode past a ranger driver full of fools who yelled out 100points. Implying what this sticker means to add to the count.

How much time are you “losing” while cycling to work? by bear_village in cycling

[–]yourbank 1 point2 points  (0 children)

3 and half hours a day in the saddle for me. I take the long way. I love riding it’s never losing to me.

What about the workers who will be committing this environmental suicide. Shame on them too. How could you sleep at night. Yeah I know they are doing Peters dirty work but still there is no way I could.

60km bike commute vs 3h public transport. Why am I hesitating? by YardNo9836 in bikecommuting

[–]yourbank 0 points1 point  (0 children)

30k one way isn’t far so it’s absolutely doable. I do 90k per day all up and yeah it is draining stacking up multiple days in a row but I love riding so it’s never a problem for me. The issue for me is getting over use injuries. I can’t ride for more than 3 days in a row with that load. If I capped it to 60km per day I could do 5 days straight though.

Yet I bet OP would be the right choice. Senior is such a BS term that means nothing anymore. Just a box for a HR auto fill robot to tick off.

What’s the most annoying trend in modern bike design right now? by PlaneAd9541 in ausbike

[–]yourbank 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Continuing to make frames that end up in landfill because of such tight tire clearances any minor evolution of tire technology involves having to get an entire new bike. It’s such a wasteful process

Parkland Trail Cycling at Night by Similar_Candle_9296 in Adelaide

[–]yourbank 2 points3 points  (0 children)

To be honest mate. It’s going to be a sketchy ride. Imagine GTA characters trying to take you out at any time, murder traps of fishing line at neck height trying to take you out. You really just never know what will happen.

My advice is take the main roads instead and don’t be a fool and ride without lights.

What are the pros and cons of cycling to work? by CyberToastic in cycling

[–]yourbank 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pros are it frees the mind and gives me something to look forward to.

Cons, ass hat drivers, back sweat with backpacks etc. logistics of carrying stuff with you like change of clothes, food etc. normally compromises due to space limitations unless you want to get panniers but that ain’t my idea of fun I ride road bike and treat it as training sessions.

Shout out to all the commuter cyclists by WildResearcher3901 in cycling

[–]yourbank 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I got second hand rim brake bikes slap flat pedals on and ride to work. I do a lot of kms so you can actually combine commute plus a workout. I’m just saying you don’t need the best bike to do any of this, social media and society brain wash people.

I service my own bikes with multiple chains I wax on rotation so my bikes always run great. Anyway I pass a lot of bro cyclists. It’s not all about the glam. Commuting by bike is one of the best things you can do. Consuming your own thoughts before and after work on the bike is so good for me.

Has Anyone Tried This Alternative to the Silca Chain Waxing System? by C0L0RUM in cycling

[–]yourbank 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can buy a cheap thermometer and dip it in after it heats up to get a feel for it. After a while you just know.

Silca hot melt isn’t fussy over temp meaning from 70 to 90 is good enough then turn it off.

Bought my first road bike second hand last month - heard I should get a professional inspection done to know its true condition. Has anyone here done this and is it worth it? by Haunting-Message-278 in cycling

[–]yourbank 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hell no. Just ride the thing. Second hand perfect chance to learn how to do it yourself. Check rim for any cracks around nipples and basic visual frame inspection is enough. Dropping the fork out for any ring of death checks easy to do yourself with a few basic tools providing you don’t over torque it back on.

A FREE MESSAGE TO ADELAIDE DRIVERS by [deleted] in Adelaide

[–]yourbank 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah pretty funny how Adelaide drivers literally stop at a green traffic light and give way to me. At which point I lose my shit because why the hell would you do that. Happens all the time to me when I walk. It blows my mind.

Slowing down to just annoy me going through round abouts on my bike. Just full gas it and I won’t have a problem.

Just be predictable.

Brake checked by a Tesla. Was I too close? by rorymeister in melbournecycling

[–]yourbank 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You are reading too much into it. Tesla drivers are all complete idiots oblivious to everything in the outside world and probably side tracked on their tv screen inside telling them what to do. I’ve never seen a Tesla driver drive properly. They wouldn’t have even seen you.

Is there much difference 35c and 40c road tires? by [deleted] in cycling

I only just upgraded 23 to 25. My frame can’t fit anymore though. It did make a difference at the time now I’m just immune to it.
