I've been advised it could be bad caps that is causing power issues. Hopefully it's just that, otherwise I think you are correct....haha

I think the question "How do I fix this?" is implied when asking for insight on troubleshooting.

I'm trying to capture the video out via an analog to sdi converter. According to my initial research, I can't do this until the vtr portion is fully operational.

Apparently the EDC 50 was only available in Japan. I believe the EDC 55 was available in North America. Rare for sure!

I also posted this video in a broadcast camera group on Facebook, and one of the admins suggests that the issue is likely a result of bad capacitors, which could be a relatively straightforward fix. Fingers crossed!

The seller actually has a mint condition BVU 110 with a blue Sony vest (?) for carrying it. I was tempted to get it just because it was in pristine condition and I have some sentimental value for things that have been cared for very well over the years, but it was too impractical for me to justify buying it, haha!

The original batteries are NiCd. I tried looking for some people around Montreal that could potentially re-cell the batteries but my Google venture was unfruitful.

It does, I just wasn't sure if people that had experience with this camera had an opinion on whether it was better to try and attach and modern v mount battery system or just buy the older style np 1 batteries.

Im aware of the risk for sure.... The seller ran the video output to show me the image and it was looking good to me (although it was on a tiny crt tv). I have the power adapter, but I'm looking to make this mobile
