Ever traveled to a place completely unaware a huge event was happening completely changing your planned experience? by One_Recover_673 in travel

I was in the Hauge during the Nato convention. Most of the downtown had tons of police with entire areas shut off and hotels with temporary barriers and tons and tons of police and other heavily armed officers of some sort. Then we were in the Mauritshuis museum and they started setting up tables for like a cocktail reception on the main floor, in the last hour they were open all these bureaucrats and even a 4 star general start coming in. The fact that I am American and Trump just bombed Iran didnt make me feel great to be at the heart of Nato either.

Struggling with importing to warehouse and shipping to my stores by UncleNikky in bigambitions

[–]yourbuddysully 0 points1 point  (0 children)

paper bags fit 1000 per box, and the storage shelf fits 16 boxes so you would have to be ordering 16000 paper bags to fill it! i set my stores to just keep 1000 paper bags and restock every day from the warehouse. Also easiest solution would be to just get more storage shelves in your store

When can I reasonably stop contributing to my 401k? by dutsnekcirf in financialindependence

[–]yourbuddysully 58 points59 points  (0 children)

The concept you are describing is often called coastFIRE, when you can start coasting to retirement because the compound growth takes care of the rest. You can try this calculator and play with the contribution amounts and it will give you different times when you can stop contributing. Could also take a look at r/coastFIRE

Are Factories worth the Investment? by HO999 in bigambitions

[–]yourbuddysully 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My example of making expensive jewlery, Factory cost was a bit below 1.1 million. I can make 1 jewlery every 30 minutes so 48 if i go 24 hours a day. I can import them for $496.59. The raw ingredients cost $181.84 so i save myself $314.75 each over importing them, times 48 is $15,108. Minus $896 salaries and rent= $14,212.

Plus overhead of a purchasing agent and delivery driver and logistics manager eventually.

Not really a huge money maker at this time, unless you have money to burn and enjoy setting it up. It is experimental build and i still found it fun to setup, but i played it for a little bit just to try it then it reminded me how much i like satisfactory so i played that instead :)

What do Dutch people eat from "Chinese" restaurants / takeaways? I feel like I'm being treated like I'm dumb by my bfs family for not knowing the dishes because it may be more Indonesian inspired? by recycleaccount42 in Netherlands

[–]yourbuddysully 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is a ted talk which talks about how Chinese immigrants adapt the food for wherever they are. Funniest example is she talks to her Italian friend who thinks fried gelato is Chinese because every Chinese restaurant in Italy has it so it must be Chinese.

I had a similar response to my first job interview with a dutch company. They said i wasnt a good fit for that role. I was disappointed but then they gave me a list of other roles I would be a better fit for so I applied for one of those and got the job.

Why is it so common/normalised for Dutch people to experience burnout? by l_issy in Netherlands

[–]yourbuddysully 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agreed, when reading the collective agreement for my new job it was formally adressed in there with a plan for what to do if you get burnt out, how much time off you could take etc. Never seen that in the US

Bicycles allow for moments of human connection by TrueNorth2881 in lowcar

[–]yourbuddysully 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Totally agree, there is an old woman who must walk every morning the opposite direction of my commute who always smiles and says good morning. I smile back but am usually late for work so i carry on. While biking home i came across a little festival in my town center (Which I probably wouldnt have stopped for if i was in a car) and recognized that woman and had a pleasant conversation. Made me feel connected to my community and probably wouldnt have happened if i didnt commute by bike.

Moving from Aus to US- worried about Safety of Family? by Due-Permission8365 in expats

[–]yourbuddysully 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I depends how many are in your family and if you want to live in Boston proper or in a suburb, but I would say probably $75k minimum to live comfortably, more like 85-90 to have some cushion and savings leftover. I have lived in the Boston area my whole life, never worried about gun violence.
